TURLOCK, Calif. (KCRA) — Former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is being inducted into his high school’s hall of fame in his hometown of Turlock.
Kaepernick grew up in Stanislaus County and attended Pitman High School. He played football, baseball and basketball. During his senior year, Kaepernick led the school in its first playoff win.
The article goes on to state the following:
Kaepernick created waves after he began kneeling for the national anthem before NFL games two years ago in protest of police brutality. His actions led to nationwide movements and protests, including gaining President Donald Trump’s ire. Recently, Kaepernick appeared in Nike’s 20th anniversary “Just Do It” campaign commercial.
Kaepernick and eight others will be inducted to the school’s hall of fame on Nov. 3.
Pitman High School Athletic Director Dave Wells said Kaepernick deserves the honor at the school.
Saturday, November 3rd, the PDF is hosting the 1st Pitman Hall of Fame Dinner. During the next weeks we will be announcing the inductees of our first #PHSHOF18 class.
