Supreme Court justice nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh began his opening statement before the Senate Judiciary Committee Thursday afternoon, giving an emotional and powerful defence against the allegations launched against him by Christine Blasey Ford.

“I denied the allegation immediately, categorically and unequivocally. All four people allegedly at the event, including Dr. Ford’s longtime friend Ms. Keyser, have said they recall no such event,” Kavanaugh said.

“I was not at the party described by Dr. Ford. This confirmation process has become a national disgrace,” he stated emphatically, slamming the allegations and the effect it has had on his family and his reputation.

“This whole two week effort has been a calculated and orchestrated political hit.”
