First Lady Melania Trump claimed she was ‘blindsided’ by her husband’s zero-tolerance immigration policy separating families, adding that the news prompted her visit toward the border in June.
While speaking for her ABC News’ special ‘Being Melania,’ the First Lady said that first time she learned of the Trump administration’s policy, she acted ‘right away.’ The special aired on Friday.
The article goes on to state the following:
‘It was unacceptable for me to see children and parents separated. It was heartbreaking. And I reacted with my own voice,’ she added.
Melania asserted that she disagreed with President Trump’s policy that separated thousands of parents from their children.
‘Yes and I let him (the President) know,’ said the 48-year-old. ‘I didn’t know that that policy would come out. I was blindsided by it. I told him at home, and I said to him that I feel that’s unacceptable, and he felt the same.’
