San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz on Wednesday said President Trump is “incapable of feeling solidarity and empathy” after Trump said his administration “did a fantastic job” responding last year to Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.

“The onset of fear and lack of dignity in which the trump administration continues to treat the people of Puerto Rico makes you mad, makes you angry and makes you realize that this man — it’s not that he doesn’t want to get, it’s that he is incapable of feeling solidarity and empathy,” Cruz said during an appearance on MSNBC.

The article goes on to state the following:

Trump on Wednesday praised his administration’s response to Hurricane Maria last year, just one day after the island’s government officially updated the death count to 2,975 people from its initial count of only 64.

“I think we did a fantastic job in Puerto Rico. We’re still helping Puerto Rico. The governor is an excellent guy and he’s really happy with the job we’ve done,” Trump told reporters.

  1. San Juan mayor lambastes Trump over remarks on Hurricane Maria? Are people forgetting shes the one that stopped our ships from getting food to the people????? How DARE her play like no one knows what a nasty horrible person she is….THEN she had the gonads to tell the press Trump sent no food? BWAaahahahaaa…shes a hustler. Shes a lying dictator.

  2. The woman let supplies sit and rot and was stupid enough to give an interview standing in front of the supplies that she claimed were never sent as promised. Contractors came forward to do jobs that the US government paid for, how much of the money went into the pockets of the government? The corruption in Puerto Rico was rampant before the hurricaine, so who believes that it has changed since that disaster? I feel for the people that are still trying to live there and waiting for their government to do something. It seems like the government of Puerto Rico wants the US to come in and fix the island and foot the bill.

  3. San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz is the poster child for corruption in Puerto Rico. What was once a thriving mecca for tourism was allowed to degrade into a third-world shythole through theft of funds, corruption, deterioration of infrastructure, and abject ignorance. Puerto Ricans voted these idiots into office and have no one to blame but themselves…
