During an address at the White House on Friday, President Donald Trump invited up on stage the granddaughter of a 92-year-old woman allegedly raped and murdered by an illegal alien.

Trump hosted members of the National Border Patrol Council at the White House on Friday to speak about various immigration issues. Throughout his speech, the president touted a number of accomplishments his administration attained, such as reduced border crossings, record prosecutions and other achievements.

The article goes on to state the following:

Near the end of his speech, Trump invited on stage Daria Ortiz — the granddaughter of the late Maria Fuentes. An illegal alien allegedly raped and murdered Fuentes in New York City in January, and her death has since sparked a national debate on the consequences of “sanctuary” policies.

In an emotional tribute, Ortiz spoke of her grandmother, and revealed that she had previously worked as a secretary for the president of her native country, Dominican Republic, before legally emigrating to the United States.

Ortiz said of her grandmother’s murder, “The tragedy is this could have been avoided if there had been no sanctuary law. The tragedy is my grandmother is not ever going to be here again.”

WATCH the touching video below:

Maria Fuertes, 92, was reportedly walking home on Jan 6 when she was attacked, sexually assaulted and strangled. She was found at 2 a.m., in 32 degree weather, near death on a sidewalk, and later died at the hospital. The attacker was identified as Reeaz Khan, a 21-year-old Guyanese national living in the U.S. illegally.

ICE officials voiced their outrage after the murder, as they had issued a detainer for Khan on November 27, after he was charged in an attack on his own father, but the city of New York turned him loose.

Below is a video of the full event.
