In a pre-taped message, President Donald Trump addressed those who attended the congressional baseball game Thursday night.

Thanking the congressional members, the president said, “Tonight’s game has taken on a much deeper level of meaning beyond anything that we would have thought.” The president’s comment was in reference to the lone-gunman attack against Republicans who were practicing for the game Wednesday morning.

“By playing tonight, you are showing the world that we will not be intimidated by threats, acts of violence or assaults on our democracy,” President Trump said.

Unfortunately, some people in the crowd booed while others yelled “impeach!” upon seeing our president on the Nationals Park screen.

Reportedly, Trump did not attend the game in person due to security concerns. His eldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, did attend the game, speaking with lawmakers on both teams prior to the first pitch.

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA), who was shot during Wednesday’s attack, remains in critical condition after undergoing multiple surgeries.

The president’s remarks can be viewed below.  The game can be viewed live here.
