VIRAL VIDEO: Man curses, belittles developmentally disabled child at baseball game

A video taken at a baseball game is going viral, and the content is disturbing. The mother of a 4-year-old developmentally disabled boy has released footage she took during a baseball game at Yankee Stadium, when a complete stranger brought her son to tears with his harsh words.

Angelica DiMarco and her son, Luciano DiMarco, were at the Yankee-Reds game Tuesday. She says her son, who doesn’t easily read social cues, may have kicked the back of another fan’s chair in excitement.

In the video, a man is turned to face the mother and child, who were seated behind him. “You’re [expletive] child is retarded,” the man says.

Angelica can be head exclaiming incredulously, “What!”

“This man verbally attacked my 4 yr old developmentally delayed son and called him ‘retarded’ at yankee game and yankee staff did nothing!” Angelica DiMarco wrote below the video she took.

She initially reported the story to News 12 out of Westchester. She said after the man berated Luciano, who wears protective head gear to prevent him from banging his head, her son “covered his ears and started hysterical crying and shaking.”

The offensive man has yet to be identified, and DiMarco says stadium security didn’t address the verbal attack adequately.

Yankee Stadium typically relocates guests after a disagreement, as long as there isn’t a physical altercation. DiMarco says she was never offered that concession.

“We asked for a place for him to go,” she said. “We were told if we leave the stadium, we can’t come back in.”

According to a Yankees spokesman, the incident occurred in the bottom of the 8th inning, which made it challenging to talk to everyone involved or arrange a seat relocation. Reportedly, Yankee Stadium has “quiet spaces,” for people or kids with sensory overload issues.

“We are aware of the incident and are currently conducting an investigation,” Jason Zillo, the vice president of Yankees communications, said. “The New York Yankees have absolutely no tolerance for this type of abhorrent fan behavior.”
