Avowed white supremacist Christopher Cantwell, who was featured giving an interview in a documentary by VICE News about the tragic Virginia rally last weekend, is singing a different tune after hearing there might be a warrant out for his arrest by the Charlottesville Police Department.
In the interview Friday afternoon, featured in the VICE documentary, Cantwell went on a vile, racist rant, including attacking Ivanka Trump’s husband, Jared Kushner, who is Jewish.
He quoted some well-known black people who committed crimes, saying in every case, “[i]t’s some little black a**hole behaving like a savage, and he gets himself into trouble, shockingly enough. Whatever problems I may have with my fellow white people, they generally are not inclined to such behavior, and you have to take that into consideration when you’re thinking about how to organize your society.”
The person conducting the interview noted white people are also capable of violence.
“Of course we’re capable. I’m trying to make myself more capable of violence,” he ranted.
“I’m here to spread ideas, talk … in the hopes that somebody more capable will come along and do that, somebody like Donald Trump who does not give his daughter to a Jew,” Cantwell raved.
He confirmed he wants someone “like Donald Trump, but a lot more racist,” adding, “I don’t think you could feel about race the way I do and watch that Kushner b***tard walk around with that beautiful girl.”
On Saturday, Cantwell’s entire disposition changed in a video he posted on YouTube, expressing fear that the Charlottesville Police Department had issued a warrant for his arrest, even openly weeping at some points.
“I called the Charlottesville Police Department … and I said, ‘I have been told that there’s a warrant out for my arrest.’ They said that they wouldn’t confirm it but that I could find this out if I wanted to go a local magistrate or something,” Cantwell lamented in the video.
He attempted to justify any violence he may have been involved in, claiming it was done “in defense of myself and others,” and admitted if he does land in jail, “it won’t be the first time.”
Later, he revealed to Digg that he had learned there was no actual warrant out for his arrest. He stated that he had originally posted his video to Facebook Live, but his Facebook, Instagram and other social media accounts have been shut down.
Cantwell claimed that James Alex Fields Jr., the man who plowed his vehicle through a crowd of counter-protesters, killing one and injuring 19, acted in self-defense.
Between tears, he claimed he doesn’t know what to do, and said he wants to be peaceful and law-abiding, saying that was the “whole point of this. We have done everything in our power to keep this peaceful,” he sobbed.
The following documentary by VICE News covers the rally-goers who marched in Charlottesville Friday night, carrying Tiki torches and chanting against blacks and Jews, and includes the shocking interview with Cantwell, along with his comments about Ivanka Trump’s husband, Jared Kushner, beginning at the 2:15-minute mark.
