VP Pence releases response to Trump Jr. email case

The President’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., has been in the center of the news headlines this week, after the New York Times released the story of Trump Jr meeting with a Russian lawyer in June 2016, during the presidential campaign.

Vice President Mike Pence released a statement through his spokesman Tuesday, making it clear that the Russian lawyer story is not something he will be focusing on.

Pence’s press secretary, Marc Lotter, said in a statement:

“The Vice President is working every day to advance the president’s agenda, which is what the American people sent us here to do. The Vice President was not aware of the meeting. He is not focused on stories about the campaign, particularly stories about the time before he joined the ticket.”

NBC News Capitol Hill correspondent Kasie Hunt tweeted out the statement from Lotter:

Tuesday morning, Donald Trump Jr. released the full email exchange between himself and Rob Goldstone, who arranged the meeting, after the New York Times started leaking out portions of the emails in a tantalizing drip campaign.
