Awan was arrested at Dulles International Airport attempting to flee to his home country of Pakistan after wiring $300,000 of an illegal Congressional Federal Credit Union loan there.
Awan and his wife and brothers were on Wasserman Schultz’s payroll since 2005, earning over $4 million in total for their service. After the House Democrats’ network hack that forced Wasserman Schultz’ resignation as DNC chair last year, an investigation was launched by Capitol Police into the Pakistani technicians’ conduct. That investigation came to a head prior to Awan’s arrest when FBI officials seized smashed hard drives from a Virginia home Awan had been renting up until February.
Wasserman Schultz has resisted the investigation at every turn, criticizing Capitol Police earlier this year, and, remarkably, failing to fire Awan until yesterday. But, now that Awan has been booked, she is feeling the heat.
“Florida politicos who have known Wasserman Schultz for years are telling me she’s a nervous wreck, barely able to function since Imran Awan’s arrest,” reported John Cardillo.

The Democrat’s behavior has been strange throughout this entire scandal, which has received noticeably minimal coverage from mainstream news stations. House Democrats have been reportedly silent on the matter, as well, giving FBI and Capitol Police very little as far as intel on the case.
The US Marine who was living in the Virginia home Awan had previously rented when it was raided by FBI agents hopes the former IT staffers get what they deserve.
“I served in the Marine Corps for 14 years; if I downloaded files to an offsite server, I’m going to prison for a lot of years,” said the Marine.
ABOUT Deborah Wasserman Schultz
Deborah Wasserman Schultz (born September 27, 1966) is an American politician. She is the U.S. Representative for Florida’s 23rd congressional district. She is a member of the Democratic Party and was a former chairperson for the Democratic National Committee.
Wasserman Schultz previously served in the Florida House of Representatives and the Florida Senate, and was a national campaign co-chair for Hillary Clinton‘s unsuccessful 2008 run for president. She is the first Jewish congresswoman elected from Florida. Her district covers parts of Broward and Miami-Dade Counties, including Fort Lauderdale and Miami Beach.
Wasserman Schultz was elected chairperson of the Democratic National Committee in May 2011, replacing Virginia Senator Tim Kaine. On July 24, 2016, Wasserman Schultz announced her resignation from her position after Wikileaks released a collection of hacked emails indicating that Wasserman Schultz and other members of the DNC staff showed bias against the presidential campaign of Senator Bernie Sanders in favor of Hillary Clinton’s campaign. Her resignation was finalized on July 28 following the 2016 Democratic National Convention. She was subsequently appointed honorary chair of the Clinton campaign’s “50 state program”.
