Matthew Stafford and Deshaun Watson were among the players on the Detroit Lions and Houston Texans, respectively, who knelt during the national anthem before their Thanksgiving Day matchup Thursday.

Players have knelt during the national anthem since the first week of the NFL season after a summer of racial tension and protests after the deaths of several Black people in police-involved incidents.

The article goes on to state the following:

NFL broadcasts showed the protests during the anthem during the start of the season but tapered off as the season continued.

Conservatives have blasted the two players in a barrage of Twitter posts.  One Twitter user wrote, “And lots of us immediately turned the tv off.”

“I know there are very few but those of you who are following me or anyone else who sees this tweet. I just sat down to watch the oldest Thanksgiving tradition in the NFL. I turned it off a moment later. Matt Stafford took a knee for the national anthem. So screw it!” Grady Dixon tweeted.

“First time this season I turned on the game. Immediately turned it off after seeing the kneeling. F’um! Does nothing to stop racism, especially when the left constantly pushes the narrative & supports intolerance, violence & racism,” one Twitter user declared.

Another Twitter user, Steve Otkowski, wrote, “I have a message for Deshawn Watson and Matthew Stafford. Next time you disrespect my anthem by kneeling, remember why you get to play a game for millions. From a hard working, patriotic American.”

    • Right on Anthony! I no longer watch it or most of the major sports if they kneel and disrespect our flag and those who fought and fight for us. Many have died for us and the flag is our National symbol.

  2. I haven’t watched football since all this kneeling bull shit started. With the NFL’s attitude I doubt I will ever watch another pro game. The same goes for the NBA and any other sport that want to kneel during the National Anthem.

  5. I have not a NFL game all year. Nor a MLB game either, for that matter. I said I was all done with pro and college sports and I meant it. I have spent $0 on any kind of sports merch this year. I’m but one little old guy but damn it, I sick of all their shit.
