On Monday, Sally Boynton Brown, a white woman running for chair of the Democratic National Committee, said her goal is to “shut other white people down.”

“My job is to shut other white people down when they want to interrupt,” Brown said during a DNC candidate forum, hosted by MSNBC.

According to the Daily Caller, another statement she made implied the Democratic Party is the only “accepting” political party and that “whites” need to understand they have privilege.

“My job is to shut other white people down when they want to say, ‘oh, no, I’m not prejudice; I’m a Democrat; I’m accepting,” she said.

Her speech went on to criticize white people.  She talked about how “white leaders” in her own party have failed the Black Lives Matter Movement.

“Black lives matter and it makes me sad that we’re even having that conversation,” she said. “And that tells me that white leaders in our party have failed.”

She asked the African American community to reach out to her saying, “I need schooling, so that I can school other white people.”

The Daily Caller reports Brown is running against three African Americans and one Hispanic male for the position. The report says she did not comment when asked why she is running against the minority she is defending.
