CNN reporter, Jim Acosta, who has been accused of sharing fake news and anti-Trump rhetoric, got into a heated discussion today with one of President Trump’s top advisors, Stephen Miller, over a new immigration bill proposed by two top GOP senators Wednesday.
Acosta and Miller held a back and forth argument about the Statue of Liberty and what it means to be an immigrant for 7 minutes.
The press corp was silent the entire time; they sat in total awe of what was being volleyed between the two. At one point Miller called out Acosta for his liberal comments about how and when people come to US. He said,”It reveals your cosmopolitan bias to a shocking degree.”
Jim Acosta started off by attacking the new immigration bill announced by the Trump administration today favoring immigrants who are highly skilled and who can demonstrate the ability to speak English.
“Are we just going to bring in people from Great Britain and Australia?” Acosta lashed out in an attempt to make Miller and the administration appear racist. Acosta didn’t come out and say it, but he may as well have said, “Looks like the U.S. will be taking only those immigrants from majority-white countries.”
Miller kept his cool the entire time despite the ranting of Acosta.
Miller rammed back at the CNN reporter, “I have to honestly say, I am shocked at your statement that you think that only people from Great Britain and Australia would know English.”
“Jim, have you honestly never met an immigrant from another country who speaks English outside of Great Britain and Australia?” he continued, adding, “Jim that is one of the most outrageous, insulting, ignorant and foolish things you’ve ever said.” He continued, “and that’s says a lot coming from… the fact that you would think this is a racist bill….”
