President Trump’s weekly video address to the American people was published Friday afternoon, in which he focused on illegal immigration.

The president mentioned that families of those killed by illegal aliens came to meet with him at the White House this week. He said if the government had enforced our country’s immigration laws, those victims would still be alive today.

Trump said, “Since I took the oath of office, I have been restoring our immigration laws, and the protection and defense of our borders.”

He discussed two important immigration bills that were just approved by the House on Thursday, and are now awaiting confirmation by the Senate before they are enacted into law. Trump called on the Senate to get this passed ASAP.

President Trump also mentioned the nation’s upcoming Independence Day holiday on July 4, saying we remember now, more than ever, to cherish our freedom, as the foundation of freedom is the rule of law and forms the cornerstone of our way of life.
