An unnamed White House official told Fox News on Friday that a list of almost one dozen names are being considered as replacements for recently fired FBI Director James Comey.

The source reportedly said, “We are moving quickly and expeditiously to pick an interim adn a permanent replacement, adn we’re doing our due diligence – we’re not going to cut any corners.”

One likely candidate on the list is Ray Kelly, former NYPD commissioner, who was considered for the position in 1993 after the World Trade Center bombing.  He is also someone who President Trump personally knows very well.   He served in the Clinton administration as Treasury Department Undersecretary for Enforcement, and was approved by Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer as a candidate for DHS secretary during Obama’s first time. Schumer also endorsed Kelly when he was being considered to head the FBI in 2011.

Below is the released list of candidates:

  • Ray Kelly, the former and longest-serving New York City police commissioner

  • Mike Rogers, former House Intelligence Committee chairman and former FBI agent

  • Former Assistant Attorney General Alice Fisher

  • Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C.

  • Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn, R-Texas

  • Paul Abbate, executive assistant director for the Criminal, Cyber, Response and Services Branch

  • Associate Judge of New York Court of Appeals Mike Garcia

  • Mayor of Colorado Springs John Suthers

  • Former federal appellate court Judge Michael Luttig, now executive vice president of Boeing

  • Larry Thompson, former deputy attorney general under President George W. Bush

  • Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe
