If a “Russia war room operation” is established, it won’t be inside the White House, a White House official has stated.

Reuters reported that the possibility had been discussed of hiring Corey Lewandowski, Trump’s former campaign manager, to head up a rapid-response team to respond to allegations involving the campaign’s connections to Russia.

But the White House official told Reuters that if such an operation is put together, it will be done outside the White House, likely under the direction of Trump’s outside counsel, Marc Kasowitz.

Former FBI director James Comey, who President Trump fired on May 9, is scheduled to testify Thursday before Congress, and is expected to provide details of his previous visits with Trump about Russia.

President Trump and continued to deny that there was any “collusion” with Russia, and tweeted on June 1, “The big story is the ‘unmasking and surveillance’ of people that took place during the Obama administration.”

On May 31, President Trump called the whole thing a “witch hunt.”
