Whoopi Unhinged Over Reactions to Meryl Streep’s Speech (Video)

After Meryl Streep’s scathing speech on Sunday evening that condemned President-elect Donald Trump, liberals are defending the actress’ sentiments.

On Monday, host of ABC’s The View Whoopi Goldberg took to the airwaves to defend Streep, while making political claims about Hollywood.

The show aired a replay of Streep’s acceptance speech at the Golden Globes. Co-host Jedediah Bila argued that most people do not want to hear a political rant while watching an award show.

The View panel discussed the tweet that Sen. John McCain’s daughter, Meghan McCain, posted last night after Streep’s rant. She wrote, “This Meryl Streep speech is why Trump won. And if people in Hollywood don’t start recognizing why and how – you will help him get re-elected.”

This did not sit well with Goldberg, who went on a tirade about how liberals in Hollywood allegedly lose more jobs than conservatives. She insisted that she cannot name a single “right-leaning person” who has lost their job because of their political views. She said people should stop criticizing Hollywood like it was a “bad word.” She proceeded to lecture on the history of Hollywood and claimed that prior to the 1970s, Hollywood was dominated by right-leaning groups.

She yelled, “Stop painting this idea. Because, you know, harking back to the conversation we had, I’ve been thinking about it, and I can’t name one right-leaning person who was ever lost their job for being a right-leaning person, but I can name you at least 15 or 20 people who lost their ability to make a living, including myself, because of right-leaning folks saying, ‘Oh, you said that, you shouldn’t be saying that.'”

Goldberg concluded by saying that liberal actors like Sean Penn and Danny Glover “ate a lot of poop” from Republicans during the former President George W. Bush’s administration. She added, “I can’t name any right-leaning people who ate anything in the last eight years.”
