Amid swirling reports that the U.S. government is preparing charges against Julian Assange, WikiLeaks tweets the president to remind him about sentiments he expressed during a 2016 campaign rally.
Recent discussions about taking measures to go after Assange represents a major reversal based on remarks Trump made in past months.
The official WikiLeaks account tweeted Trump on Friday and included a short clip of him declaring at a Pensylvania rally in October 2016, “I love WikiLeaks It’s amazing how nothing is secret today when you talk about the Internet,” referring to Hillary Clinton’s leaked emails.

The video has resurfaced after prosecutors found a way to move forward on charges aginst the WikiLeaks founder, following a long battle to determine if the First Amended could protect Assange from prosecution, according to The Hill.
