A 21 year old girl and her cousin were attacked by a total stranger who tossed acid on them in East London.

Resham Khan (shown above) was celebrating with her cousin, singing songs and blasting the radio. The celebration was in recognition of Khan’s 21st birthday.

While stopped at a red light, a man approached the car and threw acid at her through the open window. Khan said her skin started to burn away and her clothes disappeared from her body. The man then ran around to the other side of the car and showered her cousin with more of the acid.

Khan said she and her cousin ran around in the middle of the street for 45 minutes until finally someone helped. She says a driver eventually stopped and drove them to a hospital.

Khan shows her burns in the pictures, and she awaits to see how bad she will look when the healing is complete. Her cousin, however, is in a coma.

Khan said she had made a full statement to police, adding that one officer told her he was “certain [the attacker] will be found and sent away for a long time.”
