VA woman who made anti-Muslim rant receiving death threats (video)

A Virginia woman claims she is fighting off death threats after a video recording of her speaking to a Muslim woman at a Trader Joe’s went viral.

In the video, which went viral on Monday, the woman tells a Muslim woman at the store, “I wish they didn’t let you in this country.” Smiling, she says, “we don’t have a Muslim in office anymore,” referring to President Barack Obama.

The woman has not released her name, but told Fox News that her comments were taken out of context. She says she made the comments in reaction to what was said by the Muslim girl first. The woman claims the Muslim girl made “strong statements” about the United States being full of murderers and rapists, but those comments were not recorded which made the video taping unfair.

The video was originally shared to Facebook by comedian Jeremy McLellan. He is friends with the Muslim woman who told him she began taping the conversation when the woman in line started commenting on her Muslim attire and female genital mutilation.

“I wanted people to know that it has happened,” McLellan said. “I have a lot of Muslim friends, and they experience these types of things quite often. And whenever they tell people, people don’t believe it or they come up with excuses, or they come up with some sort of scenario where they are exaggerating it—like this is not a really big problem that is going on.”

In McLellan’s original Facebook post, he wrote, “A friend of mine (who wishes to remain anonymous) just sent this to me. I’ve confirmed that it’s real. This happened today at the Trader Joe’s in Reston, VA. This woman was in a hurry so my friend (who is a Muslim woman) offered to let her go in front of her in line. That’s when she started talking bad about a different Muslim woman in the store who was wearing hijab.

The woman in the video told Fox News he is seeking legal representation. See the original video below.
