A Utah woman was killed on an Alaskan cruise, ironically falling victim at the same time a murder mystery dinner played out aboard the ship.
Kristy Manzanares was killed during the cruise on Tuesday night. The 39-year-old mother was found lying in a pool of her own blood after sustaining a head injury.
Witnesses say that participants in the murder mystery dinner thought the furor over the discovery of her body was part of the game, but quickly found out the murder was real.
According to WKBN, an eyewitness saw Manzanares “lying on the floor covered in blood and husband, Kenneth, soaked with blood, dragging his wife by the ankles toward the room’s balcony.”
Reportedly, the witness confronted the husband, Kenneth Manzanares, who said his wife had been laughing at him.
The couple had taken the Alaskan cruise aboard the Emerald Princess to celebrate their 18th anniversary, accompanied by their three daughters and other family members. Sadly, at least one of the daughters witnessed the fight. Reports indicate a child ran from the room, seeking help. “The little girl in that room came running out, calling for help. Their parents had been in a fight. She was pretty desperate,” said a fellow passenger, Chris Ceman.
Kenneth Manzanares, also 39, will face charges, as he is accused of murdering his wife in their cabin.
As Manzanares was arrested, he told an FBI officer: “My life is over.”
Friends say Kenneth and Kristy Manzanares were celebrating their anniversary with their three daughters and other family members.
The murder side-tracked over 3,500 passengers, who spent eight hours in the port of Juneau, Alaska, to allow the FBI to conduct the investigation on the incident, which occurred in U.S. waters.
