An expectant mother has been arrested for asking another woman to inject her with illegal drugs while she was in labor. The woman complied, and both were subsequently arrested.

While in labor at a Concord, New Hampshire, home, Felicia Farrugia, 29, asked Rhianna Frenette, 37, to give her heroin and methamphetamine prior to calling 911.

According to police reports, Farruggia refused to allow neighbors to call 911 until she was injected with the drugs. Frenette eventually administered the drugs to Farruggia using an unsanitary syringe.

Emergency crews were called and arrived at the scene while Farrugia was still in labor. She was transported to an ambulance where she gave birth to a baby boy. The two were taken to Concord Hospital and were admitted for several days.

Police reported that the baby was taken into state custody, where he remains.

Frenette is accused of misdemeanor and felony charges of reckless conduct. Farruggia faces a felony count of reckless conduct.
