The same organizers of the Women’s March held in Washington, D.C. the day following President Trump’s inauguration are now planning a protest next week against the National Rifle Association (NRA). The protest will be held July 14 in Fairfax, Va.

On the event’s Facebook page, the organizers claimed, “We know that we are not safe. But we will not be intimidated into silence.”

“Recent actions of the NRA demonstrate not only a disregard for the lives of black and brown people in America, but appear to be a direct endorsement of violence against women, our families and our communities for exercising our constitutional right to protest,” the Facebook post read.

The protest follows the June release of an NRA advertisement which criticized the media, Hollywood and other institutions in America viewed by conservatives as liberal-leaning.

In the ad, Dana Loesch, a spokeswoman for the NRA says, “They use their media to assassinate real news. They use schools to teach children that their president is another Hitler. They use their movie stars, singers, and comedy shows and award shows to repeat their narrative over and over again.

“And then they use their ex-president to endorse the resistance, all to make them march, to make them protest, make them scream ‘racism’ and ‘sexism’ and ‘xenophobia’ and ‘homophobia.’”

Loesch contends in the ad that the only way to stop such behavior and to save the country is to “fight this violence of lies with the clenched fist of truth.”

The ad received critical attention following the accusation by a House Democrat that the NRA was attempting to divide Americans and “exploit” the June shooting at a Republican congressional baseball practice.

The organizers of the Women’s March are inviting protesters to join them in “exercising our First Amendment rights by holding a mass mobilization for our safety.”

Demands from the event organizers include the removal of “the recent irresponsible and dangerous advertisement videos from all social platforms immediately.” They are also calling for the NRA to “issue an apology to the American people for the video that suggests armed violence against communities of color, progressives and anyone who does not agree with this Administration’s policies.”
