Trump’s pick to head the FBI doesn’t think the investigation into Russia’s meddling in the 2016 Presidential election is a “witch hunt”, as the President has been known to say.
FBI head nominee Christopher Wray made the comment in his Senate confirmation hearing Wednesday, after he vowed to keep politics out of his investigations.
“I do not consider (former FBI) Director Mueller to be on a witch hunt,” Wray said. “I’m very committed to supporting Director Mueller in the special counsel investigation. I view him as the consummate straight shooter.”
Wray’s answers regarding special counsel Mueller and the Russia investigation as a whole continued in this vein, as he had nothing negative to say about the man or the mission.
“If I am given the honor of leading this agency, I will never allow the FBI’s work to be driven by anything other than the facts, the law and the impartial pursuit of justice. Period. Full stop,” he said in his opening statement.
