Reports are surfacing that a 15-year-old girl is said to be the victim of a gang rape that aired on Facebook LIVE. The rape allegedly took place in Chicago.
According to investigators, 40 people watched the rape online, but not a single one of them called the police.
Police didn’t find out about the rape until the victim’s mother told the school superintendent on Monday afternoon. Reportedly, she showed him screenshots of the rape as the superintendent was leaving a news conference.
According to the Chicago Tribune, the young girl was reported missing after she didn’t return from a trip to the store on Sunday. It was during the search for her that the girl’s uncle came across a Facebook Live video showing a group of males raping the teen.
The girl was found Tuesday morning walking four blocks from her home.
Police are now searching for the owner of the Facebook page and the boys appearing in the video. Facebook has since taken the video down.
