BREAKING: Award-winning novelist reportedly stabbed before New York speech[VIDEO]

Novelist Salman Rushdie was reportedly stabbed before giving a speech in Chautauqua, New York.

An Associated Press reporter witnessed a man storm the stage at the Chautauqua Institution and begin punching or stabbing Rushdie as he was being introduced. The author was taken or fell to the floor, and the man was restrained.

The article goes on to state the following:

Rushdie’s book “The Satanic Verses” has been banned in Iran since 1988, as many Muslims consider it to be blasphemous. A year later, Iran’s late leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini issued a fatwa, or edict, calling for Rushdie’s death.

According to Fox News, Iran has offered as much as $3 million for the death of the author. His condition is unknown at the time of reporting. tweeted Friday, “NOW – Salman Rushdie is stabbed on stage in New York. MORE – The award-winning novelist Salman Rushdie was previously targeted by Islamists after he released the novel The Satanic Verses.”

Host Piers Morgan tweeted, “BREAKING: Author Salman Rushdie, the subject of an ongoing fatwa from Iran over his book Satanic Verses, sparking many death threats over the years, has been stabbed on stage at the Chautauqua Institution in New York State.”

Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro tweeted, “The fatwa against Rushdie has never been revoked. If this is tied to Iran, it demonstrates once again that American attempts to woo the ayatollahs are an act of supreme idiocy.”

Author Carl Levan tweeted, “Just witnessed the horrific assassination attempt on #SalmanRushdie’s life. He was stabbed multiple times before attacker was subdued by security. Some intrepid members of audience went on stage. What courage will be expected of us next to defend even the smallest freedoms?”

Sky News tweeted, “BREAKING: Author Salman Rushdie, whose writing led to death threats, has been attacked on stage at an event in New York state.”

  1. It will be interesting to see who the assailent is. There are so many coming through our southern border and so many ‘got aways’ it would be easy for an assasin to sneak into our country with sinister plans
