The College Board published the updated curriculum for its AP African American studies course on Wednesday, revealing that much of the content Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ administration criticized it for had been removed.

The course cut much of the content associated with Black Lives Matter, the queer experience and other controversial issues that prompted the Florida Department of Education (DOE) to reject it from being taught in Florida schools.

The DOE had originally stipulated that the course could be approved for Florida public high schools once The College Board cut out these “woke” aspects.

According to the report, this course is currently being used in 60 schools and will branch out to hundreds more next year. The college board met with over 200 historians and professors to develop the material used in this AP class.

Gov. Ron DeSantis recently came out against the AP course saying, “This course on Black history, what’s one of the lessons about? Queer theory. Now, who would say that an important part of Black history is queer theory? That is somebody pushing an agenda.”

According to the New York Times, “The College Board purged the names of many Black writers and scholars associated with critical race theory, the queer experience and Black feminism. It ushered out some politically fraught topics, like Black Lives Matter, from the formal curriculum.”

David Coleman, head of the College Board, told the New York Times, “At the College Board, we can’t look to statements of political leaders.” Instead Coleman insisted the changes were in response to “the input of professors” and “longstanding A.P. principals.”

College Board tweeted Wednesday, “Since last fall, we’ve been piloting #APAfricanAmericanStudies in 60 schools across the U.S. Thank you to the brilliant scholars & teachers who developed this rich & inspiring course. We’re proud to celebrate the official course framework today. #CelebrateAPAfricanAmericanStudies”

Rep. Byron Donalds said, “BREAKING NEWS The College Board removed its woke curriculum from its AP African-American Studies course following @GovRonDeSantis‘ objections to the blatant indoctrination in the course syllabus. This is a HUGE win for our state & the future of children’s education! TY, Gov!”

Author Rich Lowry wrote, “The details will matter, but at first blush this looks like a major victory for Ron DeSantis, who was willing to endure ridiculous smears to force the College Board to remove at least the most indefensible, politicized elements of its AP course. Well done.”

1619 Project Creator, Ida Bae Wells, responded, “This response by the college board, caving to bad-faith attacks by conservatives and letting them determining the proper way to examine the Black experience will only encourage more of this.”

Florida Commissioner of Education, Manny Diaz Jr., tweeted, “’It’s not African American history. It is ideology.’ Thank you to County Commissioner Bill Proctor for calling it like it is. Florida will continue to teach and celebrate African American history without any form of woke indoctrination.”

  1. I hope Floridians realize how blessed they are to have such a great Governor. Makes me want to pack my bags and leave Connecticut. Hopefully that’ll happen in the near future,

  2. Lol, just because they removed “much” of the idolatry verbiage doesn’t mean they won’t be preaching their Marxist/CRT cult BS! They are just trying to curtail meaning so they can get approved and funded! Crazy yet sad, we have spent decades to end segregation and now we have some individuals that want segregation again!

  3. I want a governor like that in Washington state and we can kick that pos we have all the way to the moon never see him again but we have too much garbage in Seattle and illegal voting and the corruption is to the core

    • Washington state sucks. I can’t wait to move to Florida not only for the better weather but because no state will ever have a governor as dumb as Inslee. Other governors may be shady but Inslee is just plain stupid and the state government is run by socialists. The policies and laws here make California look like a conservative state.
