The Colonial Pipeline has returned to operations following a cyberattack that snarled gas supply for the eastern U.S. for days, according to Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm.

“Following this restart, it will take several days for the product delivery supply chain to return to normal,” Colonial Pipeline said in a statement. “Some markets served by Colonial Pipeline may experience, or continue to experience, intermittent service interruptions during the start-up period.”

The article goes on to state the following:

“Colonial will move as much gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel as is safely possible and will continue to do so until markets return to normal,” the statement added.

In their statement, Colonial also wrote:

As we initiate our return to service, our primary focus remains safety. As part of this startup process, Colonial will conduct a comprehensive series of pipeline safety assessments in compliance with all Federal pipeline safety requirements.

This is the first step in the restart process and would not have been possible without the around-the-clock support of Colonial Pipeline’s dedicated employees who have worked tirelessly to help us achieve this milestone. We would also like to thank the White House for their leadership and collaboration, as well as the Department of Energy, Department of Transportation, FBI, PHMSA, FERC and other federal, state and local agencies for their ongoing support.

Fox Business noted in their report that the Russian hacking group Darkside had demanded millions in ransom money, but Colonial refused to pay it.

The company’s 5,500-mile pipeline provides over 100 million gallons of fuel a day, which amounts to nearly half of the East Coast’s fuel supply.

  1. Our gas shortage here in FL is panic driven only! It’s ridiculous and dangerous!
Hurricane season is upon us in June…God help us if this happens again on top of a hurricane. We’re screwed!

  2. I may be wrong but i believe the dems caused the shutdown of Colonial . They need to get their bill for infrastructure passed. Just like their gun bill. Increased shootings and now problems over gas. The dems lie about this.

  3. Too much shit is happening on China Joe’s watch already….could this be an inside job….I would not put it past these corrupt Demonrats…if they can steal an election, this would be nothing to get legislation passed…excuse me Executive Actions passed

  4. They should keep it off as leverage for the completion of the keystone pipeline. Look, if stopping the keystone pipeline is important to averting climate disaster. Keep the colonial pipeline off, or have them both operate.
