U.S. Rep. Ron Wright, an Arlington Republican, has died.

His campaign staff announced the news Monday. Wright had lived for years with cancer and was diagnosed with COVID-19 in January. He was 67.

The article goes on to state the following:

“His wife Susan was by his side and he is now in the presence of their Lord and Savior,” the statement said. “Over the past few years, Congressman Wright had kept a rigorous work schedule on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives and at home in Texas’ Congressional District 6 while being treated for cancer. For the previous two weeks, Ron and Susan had been admitted to Baylor Hospital in Dallas after contracting COVID-19.”

Wright was serving his second term in U.S Congress. he was diagnosed with lung cancer in late 2018, and had previously been hospitalized in mid September for cancer treatment.

Wright is survived by his wife, Susan, their three children and nine grandchildren.

“As friends, family, and many of his constituents will know, Ron maintained his quick wit and optimism until the very end. Despite years of painful, sometimes debilitating treatment for cancer, Ron never lacked the desire to get up and go to work, to motivate those around him, or to offer fatherly advice,” Wright’s office said in their statement.

Wright becomes the first sitting member of Congress to die from coronavirus. In December, Luke Letlow, a Louisiana Republican who was elected to U.S. Congress in November but had not yet been sworn in, died from Covid-19 complications.

Republican House Leader Kevin McCarthy posted on Twitter, “Our hearts are heavy with the news of @RepRonWright‘s passing. He was a fighter who passionately served the people of Texas and America. May God grant Susan and his entire family solace during this very difficult time.”

Rep. Wright remained active on Twitter throughout his hospitalization for Covid, and continued to speak out on the policies being pushed forward by the Biden administration. He announced his diagnosis on Jan. 21.

Last Monday, just one week ago, Wright also posted the following statement, and tweeted, “The United States must prioritize emerging technologies to counter Communist China’s goal of tech authoritarianism. I joined my colleagues, led by
@RepStefanik, to urge the Biden Admin to continue working together with our allies to keep critical tech out of the #CCP’s reach.”

The final post on Rep. Wright’s Twitter account was on Saturday – a happy birthday tribute to the late former president Ronald Reagan.

Tributes are pouring in.

“Congress lost a wonderful man and a servant leader last night. My prayers are with Susan and the entire Wright family. Ron Wright was a wonderful example to us all in his dedication and heart for our country and will be deeply missed. God speed, my friend,” wrote freshman congresswoman Beth Van Duyne of Texas.

Anyone who believes he died of covud has a few screws that need to be tightened up. People that have died in a car crash, they test and say they died from covud. This craps needs to stop.

  3. How come the Democrats, Nadler, Pelosi, Biden and crew don’t get Covid-19! Kinda strange isn’t it? Do you think maybe China gave some of them a anti-virus!
