The article goes on to state the following:
The special election runoff was to finish Ron Wright’s term in the 6th Congressional District, a Republican-leaning district in North Texas. Ron Wright died earlier this year after contracting COVID-19.
The report states that Ellzey declared victory in a speech to his supporters Tuesday night, and Wright conceded the race.
Trump had endorsed Wright in the race, and Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) had campaigned for her as well.
Wright tweeted Tuesday night, “Special elections are special, and this one was no exception. I want to congratulate Congressman-elect Jake Ellzey on his victory. I am praying for his success & wish him well. I will never forget the kindness the people of #TX06 have shown Ron & I for so many years. Thank you.”

Ellzey was endorsed by former Texas Gov. Rick Perry and U.S. Rep. Dan Crenshaw of Houston. The report states that Perry and other Ellzey supporters had suggested Trump had been misled into endorsing Susan Wright.
The Texas Tribune also explained that Ellzey had first run against Ron Wright for the U.S. congressional seat in 2018 and lost by a small margin in a primary runoff.
Both candidates had posted videos Tuesday morning encouraging people to get out and vote.
