At least nine people were shot Monday night when gunfire erupted near a popular Florida beach packed with Memorial Day revelers, authorities said.
The shooting was sparked when two groups got into an altercation, police said during a press conference.
One person of interest was arrested, Hollywood Police spokesperson Deanna Bettineschi said during the news briefing.
It’s unclear what the ages of the victims are, but some of them were rushed to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, Bettineschi said.
Memorial Healthcare System spokesperson Yanet Obarrio Sanchez told NBC6 up to five victims were being treated at the trauma center at Memorial Regional Hospital.
There were no details on their conditions or ages, but “a couple of minors” were being treated, Sanchez said.
