Ukraine’s minister of internal affairs and others from his office were among 15 people killed when a helicopter crashed Wednesday in the Kyiv region.
Denys Monastyrski, his first deputy Yevhen Yenin and internal state secretary Yuri Lubkovych were killed in the crash, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced in a Telegram post, as were their assistants and the helicopter’s crew.
“Denys, Yevhen, Yuri, the team of the Ministry of Internal Affairs… true patriots of Ukraine. May they rest in peace! May all those whose lives were taken this black morning rest in peace!” Zelensky said.
According to Zelenskyy, 3 children were among those killed. Another 25 people, including 10 children, were injured. The crash reportedly occurred near a kindergarten and a residential building, at 8:20 a.m.
A separate report by the New York Times includes the following details:
The minister, Denys Monastyrsky, was the highest-ranking government official to die since Russia’s invasion began in February last year. There were conflicting accounts of the toll, but the latest information from Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said that 14 people, including a child, had died in the crash, which damaged a kindergarten and a 14-story residential building. The crash occurred at 8:20 a.m., a time of day when parents typically drop their children off at the school.
The cause of the crash, which involved a State Emergency Service helicopter, was not immediately clear, but there was no initial information that the aircraft had been shot down.

Don’t know if I trust either Vlad or Volod as this senseless war goes on.
Too bad Zelensky wasn’t……
They were probably getting ready to defect and spill the beans.
Well played. Who’s next.
