Michael Stenger, the Senate sergeant-at-arms who oversaw security in the upper chamber during the Capitol riot, died Monday morning, according to multiple reports.

The cause of his death was not immediately clear. Stenger held the post from 2018 to 2021 and stepped down the day after the Jan. 6 attack.

The article goes on to state the following:

“There is an opportunity to learn lessons from the events of January 6th. Investigations should be considered as to funding and travel of what appears to be professional agitators. First Amendment rights should always be considered in conjunction with professional investigations,” he said in an opening statement before a Senate committee last year.

The report explains that Stenger had served with the Secret Service for decades before joining the team for the Senate sergeant-at-arms in 2011.

The day after the Jan. 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol, Stenger turned in his resignation at the request of then-Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

Stenger had testified during a hearing in February 2021 that it appeared there were paid professional agitators on January 6th.

Fox News reporter Chad Pergram confirmed on Twitter Monday evening that “Michael Stenger, the Senate Sergeant at Arms who was in charge of Senate security the day of the Capitol riot, has died.”

The circumstances around his death have not yet been published.

Around noon on Monday, Pergram had tweeted, “Very unexpected. 1/6 cmte announces a hearing for Tuesday at 1 pm et. This was not expected. The cmte was planning to be dark this week since Congress was out of session. The next hearing was supposed to come the week of July 11.”

Politico reporter K Tully-McManus also confirmed Stenger’s death, tweeting, “Former Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Michael Stenger died this morning. He joined the SAA team in 2011 after a career with the Secret Service and was appointed SAA in 2018.”

Journalist Kyle Becker tweeted, “The U.S. Senate should put out a statement on former Senate SOA Michael Stenger’s reported death. ”

“No statements. No local crime reports. No statements or response from the MPD or Capitol Police. If you want to stop speculation, issue a statement now about Stenger’s death, and more importantly, verifiable circumstances surrounding his death.”

“I am working on getting clarity on circumstances surrounding Stenger’s death with local law enforcement authorities. There is a dearth of information in local crime reporting. Will provide as soon as forthcoming,” Becker announced.

Just after noon on Monday, the January 6th Committee announced, “The Select Committee will convene a hearing tomorrow, June 28 at 1:00pm to present recently obtained evidence and receive witness testimony.”

The mystery witness has been identified as Cassidy Hutchinson, a former special assistant to Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows.

    I bet they scheduled the meeting after learning of Stenger’s death. Macabre.

The “professional agitators” that he speaks of are key to the 1/6 atrack on the Capitol and also why Pelosi refused to order the National Guard there at Trump’s urging so as not to quell the professional agitators’ efforts to egg on the attack. And I doubt that agitators were hired by Trump who advocated the demonstrators to “go to the Capitol and make your voices heard peacefully and patriotically.” So, it’s time to investigate Pelosi to get to the bottom of the attack as she was probably the one that hired the agitators.

  32. Any investigation in the suicides of the capital police? I haven’t heard a word. Men who were trained as officers of the law committed suicide after January the sixth. It seems all deaths were in a week of riot. Now this gentleman dead. People are not stupid nor blind to these corrupt democrats.
