Former President Donald Trump announced Monday that agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) allegedly seized three of his passports in the Mar-a-Lago raid.

In a Truth Social post, Trump alleged that the FBI took one expired and two current passports in the raid. He accused the agency of imposing an “assault on a political opponent.”

The article goes on to state the following:

“Wow! In the raid by the FBI of Mar-a-Lago, they stole my three Passports (one expired), along with everything else. This is an assault on a political opponent at a level never seen before in our Country,” the former president said. “Third World!”

In a separate report, Breitbart noted that this could mean Trump’s Fourth Amendment rights were violated in the search.  Breitbart writes:

The unusual — and perhaps accidental — taking of Trump’s passports could mean that the Department of Justice (DOJ) would be unable to use at least some of the materials seized in the the raid in any prosecution of the former president. Already, it has risked violating his Sixth Amendment rights by seizing materials that may including privileged attorney-client communications, which are meant to be shielded from investigations.

The Fourth Amendment reads:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Typically, an individual’s passport would not be subject to seizure unless there were reason to believe he or she was a flight risk. An order authorizing the seizure of a passport would have to be approved by a court in most circumstances.

Breitbart further explains, “The search warrant under which FBI agents conducted the raid, with the approval of Attorney General Merrick Garland, does not list Trump’s passports as within the scope of the search; nor does it list the passports in the property register of seized items.”

Trump communication director Taylor Budowich tweeted, “It is clear that from the seizure of picture books to passports to attorney-client privileged documents, this unprecedented and unnecessary raid has resulted in the DOJ BEING THE ONES in possession of items they have no legal authority to possess.”

“Give President Trump back his passport NOW!” tweeted ACT For America founder Brigitte Gabriel.

Rasmussen Reports quipped, “No American apparently needs a passport any longer as long as they are willing to walk in and out of the wide open U.S. southern border …”

Democrats are gleefully mocking Trump over the announcement, and posting speculation on social media that Trump may have a Russian and a Saudi passport.

Journalist David Leavitt tweeted:

Trump says the FBI stole 3 of his passports but one expired…was he planning to flee the country? Why does he need THREE passports?🤔 Let’s guess:
Russian Passport (Active)
Saudi Passport (Active)
US Passport (Expired)#Trumpisgoingtoprison #TrumpIsANationalSecurityRisk.”

Former FBI agent Peter Strzok mocked, “Please oh please keep asking how you can turn down the temperature in the country. And why does he have two passports? The Russian passport, of course, is kept in a vault at Yasenevo and only swapped out at third country meets, so it can’t be that one.”

“If (big if) Trump’s post is accurate, my guess is they’re diplomatic/official passports, which he’s no longer authorized to have. Not his personal passport,” Strzok added.

  1. They should give everything they took back to President Trump it was an unlawful raid on a past president. This was all done to try and stop him from running in 2024 and the election coming up in November. Vote red red red!

  2. The continuation of this crap is really going to fire up Trumps base!!! They better back off before something happens that they don’t like! Js

  3. Oh, they knew exactly what they were doing !! These scumbags deserve everything they’re gonna get ! I believe they will spend eternity in Hell

  4. President Trump should immediately announce his candidacy for 2024 POTUS…this will prove without a doubt that the Biden Administration is going after a political rival…doesn’t look good on the Dems!

  5. If these people keep running their mouths about Trump and Russia, they may be sued for defamation along with the other people Trump is suing.

  6. Many of you know me as a retired fed agent. The reason they took the passports is it telegraphs their intent to arrest and prosecute. It could be a ploy to harass and scare DJT but any law enf agent or lawyer knows that seizing a passport is a prelude to an arrest so a defendant cannot abscond to another nation to avoid prosecution.

    • In similar vein, many of you know I am a retired career diplomat. Strzok is wrong (surprise, surprise) — the government deliberately mutilates our diplomatic passports upon our retirement so that the passports no longer can be used. But we nonetheless are allowed to keep them.

  7. NB that disgraced ex-FBI official Peter Strzok and other Democrats are actively ratcheting up the national temperature even while Pres. Trump is trying to lower it. The Democrats started the last civil war and seem intent on provoking another. Their tactics and motivation remain the same — cynically exploiting identity and grievance politics for the purpose of clinging on to vanishing political power.
