Eleven-term Democratic Rhode Island Rep. Jim Langevin announced Tuesday that he will not run for reelection in 2022.

Taking office in 2001, Langevin currently serves on the House Armed Services Committee, where he chairs the subcommittee on Cyber, Innovative Technologies, and Information Systems and the House Homeland Security Committee. Before his election to Congress, Langevin served in the Rhode Island House of Representatives and as the Secretary of State of Rhode Island. He was the first quadriplegic to be elected to the House of Representatives.

The article goes on to state the following:

“It’s been the privilege of a lifetime to represent you as a state representative, as Secretary of State, and as your congressman,” Langevin said in a video posted to his YouTube channel. “We’ve been in this fight together, just like we always have.”

“I have not come to this decision lightly, but it is time for me to chart a new course, which will allow me to stay closer to home and spend more time with my family and friends,” Langevin also wrote in an op-ed in The Providence Journal.

Rep. Jerry McNerney [D] also announced his retirement on Tuesday, bringing the total of House Democrats declining to seek reelection to 28.

McNerney served in California’s 9th District since 2013, following a six year service in the state’s 11th Congressional District.

“Today I am announcing that I will not seek reelection in California’s newly created 9th Congressional District,” McNerney tweeted. “I am honored that the citizens of California’s 9th Congressional District chose me as their representative in the past five elections, and that those in California’s previous 11th Congressional District gave me the privilege of representing them for three terms.”

  1. This blows my mind. Screw the country up royally then leave. I think they are leaving because they have had too many threats against them. I think they should all run and let’s see how We the people vote them out

  2. The Dems and RINOs are reading the writing on the wall. God has numbered their days. They have been weighed and found wanting. Their districts will be given over to the American people.

  3. Interactive Polls a Democrat schill can even count correctly. Currently it’s 28 Democrats and 13 Republicans (41) congresspersons not seeking re-election.

  4. This all seems too coincidental to me. I think they are all leaving to make room for the radicals that will run in their place. I believe they are planning on stealing the midterms in the process. Heads up!

    • I think you win the prize.
Justice Democrats, who sponsored AOC after finding her by running a casting call in New York stated unequivocally when she won they planned to replace every single democrat with candidates of their choosing. They left from workingfor Bernie Sanders campaigns because Bernie wasn’t near as leftist as they wanted him to be.
In addition Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar were endorsed by Justice Democrats , and funded by CAIR . When those two won their elections it began a nationwide search for Muslims to run for pubic offices to change our laws.

  5. Check out the reasons for leaving. 4 House Demoncrats running for Senate. They are trying to take over the Senate. I wonder who they talked to to take over their position ahead of time.

Never look where the magician is pointing folks.

  6. My opinion is something is going on behind the scenes in America. Investigations or something. All getting out while they can or trying to avoid prison. Very strange how many are running away from their party. Even after their great president got the most votes ever. Lol

  7. As two other posts suggest , these democrats leaving isn’t a good sign . There are plans in place , it wouldn’t surprise me at all if they were incentivized to leave to make room for more extremists .
