In a Facebook Live broadcast on Wednesday, DMLNewsApp and TeamDML.com founder Dennis Michael Lynch (DML) ripped into Quaker Oats over their decision to ditch the Aunt Jemima brand of pancake syrup and breakfast food that Americans have used and loved for the past 130 years.
Quaker said removing the image of the beloved Aunt Jemima and her name is part of an effort by the company “to make progress toward racial equality.”
“Since when did pancake syrup become racist?” DML demanded.
He recalled the breakfast traditions of his family as he was growing up, and explained how those traditions have carried over with his own children today, and noted that if he were truly a racist, he wouldn’t have purchased and used the Aunt Jemima brand all these years.
DML also voiced his outrage over a video going viral, of a young black man who slapped a 92-year-old white woman in New York City, causing her to fall and hit her head on a fire hydrant. Police recognized the man from surveillance video, and noted that he already has a lengthy criminal record with at least 100 arrests.
