1 – Missiles rain down on U.S. Embassy in Baghdad
ABC News reports: At least four rockets targeted the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad’s heavily fortified Green Zone on Thursday, two Iraqi security officials said. The area is home to diplomatic missions and the seat of Iraq’s government,
Three of the missiles struck within the perimeter of the American Embassy, the officials said. Another hit a school located in a nearby residential complex. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media.
An Iraqi military statement said a girl and a woman were injured in the attack, without providing more details. The statement said the rockets had been launched from the Dora neighborhood of Baghdad.
The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad said in a statement that its compound had been attacked by “terrorists groups attempting to undermine Iraq’s security, sovereignty, and international relations.” The embassy’s C-RAM defense system — supposed to detect and destroy incoming rockets, artillery and mortar shells — was heard during the attack.
… that these sorts of reprehensible attacks are an assault not just on diplomatic facilities, but on the sovereignty of Iraq itself. 2/2

2 – State GOP preps bill to divert illegal migrant flights to Biden’s home state
Fox News reports: Republicans in the Pennsylvania State Senate plan to draft a bill that would relocate migrants entering the state on Biden administration-sponsored flights to the president’s home state of Delaware.
“In the very near future, I intend to introduce legislation to address the influx of illegal immigrants being relocated into Pennsylvania,” Scavello wrote, adding that his legislation will be fashioned after similar intentions voiced by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
The legislation would implement a transportation program for the relocation of migrants from the commonwealth to the neighboring state of Delaware, according to Scavello’s memo.
“How many illegal immigrants has the president relocated to his own home state of Delaware?” he asked. “If it is good enough for Pennsylvania, then why not redirect the relocation to Delaware?”

3 – Call to favor ‘skills’ over sheepskins in federal hiring
The Washington Examiner reports: A bipartisan Senate duo is picking up on a novel proposal first pushed by the Trump White House: to favor actual “skills” in addition to college diplomas when evaluating prospective federal hires.
Democratic Sen. Kyrsten Sinema and Republican Sen. Bill Hagerty said Thursday that the time is now to make the bloated federal bureaucracy more efficient and skill-based.
What’s more, the two said their “Reforming and Modernizing the Federal Hiring Process” will open the doors to a wider range of applicants to include those not wealthy enough to afford college but smart enough to get accepted.
“For too long, the federal government’s hiring priorities have focused on college degrees and institutions instead of if the individual is actually qualified,” said Hagerty, a Tennessee Republican. “Federal workers should be hired based on skills, not just if they have a degree. I’m pleased to have Senator Sinema’s partnership as we seek to modernize our federal workforce, which taxpayers depend on.”
“We’re making federal hiring more efficient and the federal government more effective by removing barriers and expanding opportunities for skilled Arizonans who have the knowledge and experience to work in the federal government, even if they don’t have a traditional college degree,” Sinema of Arizona added.
DML: Hire based on SKILL…. what a novel idea! About time someone thought of that! What do you want to bet Democrats will vote against it?
4 – Middle school offered girls shapewear to assist with ‘body image’
The New York Post reports: A Mississippi middle school has been ripped by parents over a perplexing policy in which they offered female students shapewear to alleviate “body image” concerns. A post detailing the disaster went viral on Twitter and Facebook and has sparked outrage beyond Southaven Middle School, where it was distributed.
“This is what was sent home with my 8th-grade daughter,” wrote aghast mom Ashley Heun, whose daughter Caroline attends the Southaven school. “I am beyond pissed, though I’m not sure if I’m more pissed at the fact that they had the ‘balls’ to send this home or the VERY IGNORANCE of the ‘counselors’ at the school.”
She included a screenshot of the obtuse letter outlining the sartorial offering, which allows parents to elect to receive constricting undergarments for female students in grades 6 through 8, who range in age from 10 to 14.
Heun claimed that the school boss has since apologized, and informed her they had decided to cancel the program. Meanwhile, the DeSoto County School District has confirmed that the disastrous fashion policy has been “discontinued,” Today reported, but not before it stirred up outrage on social media.
What the holy hell is this. What school is passing out “shapewear” to female students?? It’s too early in the day for this shit but fine tell me where to show up for fucks sake https://t.co/QWzjfvPYcp

5 – Fauci says it is not clear yet if people will need yearly boosters
The Hill reports: President Biden’s chief medical adviser Anthony Fauci said in an interview that it is not clear yet if people will need yearly COVID-19 boosters, even as the chief executives of several drugmakers have indicated a fourth vaccine dose may be necessary.
“We’ve only recently boosted people. We will find out if the booster gives you a degree of durability of protection and actually should be the standard regimen of three doses of an mRNA and two doses of J&J,” Fauci said in an interview with NBC News published on Thursday.
“Or — and it’s a big ‘or’ right now — will we need to boost people every year or so?” he continued.
Fauci said that he while it was a good thing that the original ancestral strain of COVID-19 was used in the development of the COVID-19 vaccine — because “we were fortunate that even though [strains] were different, they were not so different that the vaccine didn’t cover it well” — omicron has muddled the situation.
“We were doing quite well with a primary vaccination and a boost with delta. Then all of a sudden omicron came along,” Fauci told the network. ”
Dr. Fauci says it’s conceivable that people may need to get Covid vaccine booster shots every year or two, but what variant the vaccine would target remains an open question. https://t.co/xKxQzTcwZ2
