Today is June 19 and I am Dennis Michael Lynch. Below are my opinions on the stories grabbing headlines this morning. I hope you share this briefing as doing so will make you the smartest person in the room, in my opinion. And don’t forget to download the free DML App from the Google Play or Apple App Store to remain connected to me throughout the day.

1. Klobuchar shuts down VP speculation, urges Biden to pick woman of color
Politico reports: Sen. Amy Klobuchar late Thursday said she personally called Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden to advise he pick a woman of color as his running mate, effectively announcing the end of her vice presidential aspirations.

“I truly believe, as I actually told the vice president last night when I called him, that I think this is a moment to put a woman of color on that ticket,” the Minnesota Democrat told MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell. “And there is so many incredibly qualified women.”

Klobuchar had long been considered a top contender for Biden’s vice presidential pick, but as protests over police brutality against African Americans erupted across the country following the death of George Floyd at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer, the traditional running mate calculus was altered. Klobuchar’s credentials as a former prosecutor with a tough-on-crime record didn’t sit well as her home state became a locus among protests and calls for structural change in law enforcement.

DML: I just spit out my coffee as the taste of last night’s dinner resurfaced.  The senator from MN is no hero, and her bogus “step to the side” routine is no disguise for her behaviors of the past which have her in a tizzy with the black community.  I find it to be racist that we are not seeking the best person, or the best woman for the job, but instead a “woman of color.”  Furthermore, it appears the senator has forgotten that we had an African American man as a president, and his wife serving as first lady!

2. Atlanta police call out sick over charges in fatal shooting
The Associated Press reports: Atlanta police officers called out sick to protest the filing of murder charges against an officer who shot a man in the back, while the interim chief acknowledged members of the force feel abandoned amid protests demanding massive changes to policing.

Interim Chief Rodney Bryant told The Associated Press in an interview that the sick calls began Wednesday night and continued Thursday, but said the department had sufficient staff to protect the city. It’s not clear how many officers called out.

“Some are angry. Some are fearful. Some are confused on what we do in this space. Some may feel abandoned,” Bryant said of the officers. “But we are there to assure them that we will continue to move forward and get through this.”

DML: Good.  Lets see how these cities do without the cops.  I think the wishes of the crazy people calling for defunding of the police will only help Trump get reelected.

3. Stepmother of Atlanta cop in Rayshard Brooks shooting fired from her job
Fox News reports: The stepmother of the Atlanta police officer who fatally shot Rayshard Brooks was fired from her job as human resources director at an Atlanta-based mortgage company for allegedly violating company policy and creating an uncomfortable working environment for fellow employees.

Melissa Rolfe, the stepmother of former Atlanta police officer Garrett Rolfe, “lost the confidence of her peers, leadership, and many employees who no longer felt comfortable engaging with her,” a statement from Equity Prime Mortgage said.

The company said it values “diversity of thought” but “when those views create a hostile working environment, we must make difficult decisions and part ways.”

DML:  She should sue the company to hell and back.

4. Ohio anti-police protesters burn US flag after city council limits public input at meeting
Fox News reports: A group of anti-police protesters in Cincinnati set fire to an American flag on Thursday night after the city council cut short the public-input portion of a budget meeting, according to a report.

City Council member David Mann ordered the public-input portion to end after crowd members started jeering and booing a speaker who wanted the city to increase — not decrease — funding for its police department, FOX 19 of Cincinnati reported.

“This went from an emotionally charged evening to close to a mob,” Mann told the station. “We had one speaker who spoke in favor of the police, and he was shouted down. I said, ‘Hey listen folks, we are here to listen to each other,’ and then I was shouted down.”

DML: While in bed last night I asked my wife how she felt about the country and where things are headed.  She said she thought it was “all so crazy” and that she had “no words to describe her feelings about the long term.”  Well, I earn my living sharing my thoughts so I can’t hide under the covers.  That said, I would like to pull the covers over my head and pretend this bad dream gets finished by the time the sun rises, but reality is the daylight is here and the dream is real.  We are watching the slow and steady demise of our nation.  I think of sides of the aisle are failing the people of the US, and so to is the Supreme Court with its horrific ruling on DACA.  The left is doing one hell of a job at messaging the idea that “America sucks”, and if the end game is seeing a great nation fall on its face…well… they are damn close in getting what they want.

5. Coronavirus spikes bring states and cities back to the table to discuss protection measures
CNN reports: The pressure is on for local leaders to respond to regional Covid-19 spikes and records, and some are turning to mask mandates.

Statewide, Californians will be required to wear face coverings in indoor public places, Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Thursday. To the north, Oregon Gov. Kate Brown announced a similar mandate for seven counties beginning June 24.

Similar measures are being considered in North Carolina and Arizona, where Scottsdale Mayor Jim Lane is developing an ordinance with a legal team. Each of those four states, along with six others, is currently reporting its highest seven-day average of new coronavirus cases per day since the crisis began, according to a CNN analysis of data from Johns Hopkins University. The others are Alabama, Florida, Nevada, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Texas.

DML: There is no doubt in my mind that the country will go into another lockdown of sorts.  Perhaps not as extreme as earlier this year, but the headlines from CNN and the mainstream media give a dire outlook.  Is this because they want Trump dumped?  There is a component of that for sure, but COVID-19 shouldn’t be taken lightly.  At the same time, I will never agree with the measures of locking down an economy and making healthy people quarantine.  That’s my two cents.

  1. The Covid-19 is no more dangerous than a flue, but is a ploy, like you say to destroy our economy and get rid of Trump, come election time. I think Fauci and his minions will continue with bringing out high numbers of new cases because of negating all their guidelines and definitely push social distancing (needed to better tract us). They, very likely will push mandated vaccines in September because we won’t do another lockdown so of course NOW WE HAVE A VACCINE to save you dear people. See how we worked so hard to make this happen…Take the vaccine and die…OOPS, I mean save yourself from death of this devil virus.
It’s all about MONEY, and depopulating the world.
I’m with you DML, is this a bad dream? AMERICA BEING DESTROYED before our eyes with corruption from the top down?…no where to run to but rest in God’s Love and be alert, awake, and do our part.

  2. I agree with the wife. This country is crumbling down around our ears as the Democrats and Republicans are almost in stalemate. BUT having said that, the Democrats have shown that they only care about taking over our government and getting rid of Republicans by whatever means, fair or foul. Too many people do NOT know what they will lose if they keep this up. Our country has given us more freedom than anywhere else, and what do some do? They do their best to turn our Republic into garbage, literally and figuratively speaking. Sad. Unfortunately, we have people without and within who hate and they are destroying our Republic. Our country is slowly but with increasing speed getting ripped apart, too many by people in power who do not seem to care about the ramifications to the people who live here.

  3. I heard on breitbart today in a radio conversation that between Google, FB and other media they can sway 15 M votes in election. There is no monitoring and this can’t be traced.
Dr Robert Epstein has created a real time monitor for this but can’t get anymore money to back it. He did in 2016 and 2018.
He has talked to T Cruz but Cruz can’t get a Dem to join him to stop this.
What are we to do? 15 M votes is the election! Please respond.
