1.John Cornyn Pledges to Sell Out America on Amnesty After Caving on Gun Control
Breitbart – Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) pledged on Tuesday to sell out the American people by trying to advance amnesty for illegal aliens after striking a deal on gun control.
After Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) tapped Cornyn to negotiate a deal on gun control, he now promised to move forward on a deal on amnesty.
“First guns, now it’s immigration,” Cornyn told Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA).
“That’s right, we’re going to do it,” said Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ).
Sens. Thom Tillis (R-NC) and Cornyn have continued to push for amnesty with the help of Democrat allies, including Sens. Padilla and Dick Durbin (D-IL), the Senate Democrat whip.
Cornyn was recently booed at the Texas annual Republican Party convention last Friday over his work with Democrats to pass gun control.
DML: I love my TeamDML members, app users, cbd customers, and podcast listeners from Texas, but as for the rest of the state… what the f*ck is wrong with you people? You could have elected Alan West, instead you stick with RINO Abbott. You continue to vote in Cornyn. Take the 10-gallon Stetson hats off your heads, clearly they are impacting your brains negatively.
2.Stocks and oil tumble as recession fears mount
LONDON, June 22 (Reuters) – World stock markets and oil prices hit the skids on Wednesday as the persistent palpitations about rising interest rates and recessions struck again, while the Japanese yen hit a fresh 24-year low against a seemingly unstoppable U.S. dollar.
The enthusiasm that had given Wall Street its best day in over a month on Tuesday was suddenly gone as Europe opened 1.5% lower and Brent crude prices plunged 4% following what had also been a downbeat Asian session.
DML: When you have a dumb, deaf, and blind man running the United States markets will crumble around the world. It feels like a lifetime ago when Trump had the economy cranking.
3. Major cities on pace to pass historic 2021 violent crime totals halfway through 2022
Fox News – Violent crimes are on the rise in six of America’s major cities and set to outpace the already historic levels of 2021 violent crime.
Baltimore, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Atlanta, and New York City are all on pace to break their 2021 levels of violent crime halfway through this year, with the nation’s largest city leading the group, according to crime data reviewed by Fox News. New York City has seen a 25.8% jump in violent crime at this point in 2022 compared to the same time in 2021, despite seeing a small decrease in the amount of homicides recorded in the city.
Violent crime, which is typically defined as homicide, rape, assault, and robbery, had already been on the rise since 2020. Homicides have been one of the factors driving up rates of violent crime, rising 30% from 2019 to 2020 and another 5% between 2020 and 2021.
DML: There’s one common theme here… 6 cities all run by 6 Democrats. But blacks and liberals continue to vote for these people and so they get what they vote for. The scarecrow in Oz didn’t have a brain, the same can be said for voters who go blue.
4.Biden Will Push Congress for a Three-Month Gas Tax Holiday
NY TIMES – WASHINGTON — President Biden plans to call on Congress on Wednesday to temporarily suspend the federal gas tax, an effort to dampen the soaring fuel prices that have stoked frustration across the United States.
During a speech on Wednesday afternoon, Mr. Biden will ask Congress to lift the federal taxes — about 18 cents per gallon of gasoline and 24 cents per gallon of diesel — through the end of September, just before the fall midterm elections, according to senior officials speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss the announcement on Tuesday night. The president will also ask states to suspend their own gas taxes, hoping to alleviate the economic pain that has contributed to the president’s diminishing popularity.
The White House will face an uphill battle to get Congress to approve the holiday, however. While the administration and some congressional Democrats have for months discussed such a suspension, Republicans widely oppose it and have accused the administration of undermining the energy industry. Even members of Mr. Biden’s own party, including Speaker Nancy Pelosi, have expressed concern that companies would absorb much of the savings, leaving little for consumers. Senator Joe Manchin III, Democrat of West Virginia, said this year that the plan “doesn’t make sense.
DML: The gas prices are painful, but at this point it would be best for Republicans to block the move and allow the American people to feel the pain leading up to November. This will ensure the voters will be forced to vote red. It may cost us a few more bucks than we like, and I realize it is a hardship for every American, but another two years of Democrats in charge will cost a heck of a lot more. I will talk about this today on The Dennis Michael Lynch Podcast.
5.1,000 dead, 1,500 injured in earthquake, news report says
KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — A powerful earthquake struck a rural, mountainous region of eastern Afghanistan early Wednesday, killing 1,000 people and injuring 1,500 more, according to a state-run news agency. Officials warned that the already grim toll would likely rise.
Information remained scarce on the magnitude 6.1 temblor near the Pakistani border, but quakes of that strength can cause severe damage in an area where homes and other buildings are poorly constructed and landslides are common. Experts put the depth at just 10 kilometers (6 miles) — another factor that could increase the impact.
The disaster posed a major test for the Taliban-led government, which seized power last year as the U.S. planned to pull out from the country and end its longest war, two decades after toppling the same insurgents in the wake of the 9/11 attacks.
Rescuers rushed to the area by helicopter Wednesday, but the response is likely to be complicated since many international aid agencies left Afghanistan after the Taliban takeover.
