Today is June 22 and I am Dennis Michael Lynch. Below are my opinions on the stories grabbing headlines this morning. I hope you share this briefing as doing so will make you the smartest person in the room, in my opinion. 1. Deadly weekend in Seattle, Chicago, Minneapolis as New York City reports uptick in shootings
Fox News reports: Major cities in the U.S. reported bloody weekends amid increased calls to defund and disband police departments in the wake of George Floyd’s death in police custody.
Chicago recorded at least 11 killed and 67 wounded during an outbreak of violence, according to Fox 32. The deaths included a 3-year-old and a 13-year-old girl. The teenage girl was home Saturday night when she was struck in the neck from the shot fired from outside. She was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital. CBS Chicago reported that eight of those shot were children and teens, four of them died.
Investigators in Seattle are looking into a deadly shooting at CHOP, the Capitol Hill Organized Protest zone, that resulted in the death of a 19-year-old male. Police are investigating a second shooting late Sunday night in the protest zone.
Minneapolis, the city at the center of the national outrage over Floyd’s death, recorded one death and 11 injured in the uptown section of the city early Sunday morning. Fox 9 reported that it is believed suspects opened fire as patrons waited to go inside a restaurant.
It breaks my heart to see another senseless act of violence in Minneapolis.
Our city has been through so much, and we must promote peace by putting an end to gun violence.https://t.co/NRQRXhewwf

I have no details on what happened besides what appears in the video. Afterwards no one laid hands on me but they did take my phone. They then gave it back. ↓

DML: The blame game sort of goes this like… When a black criminal gets in trouble and the police take action it is somehow racist, and therefore protocol is to rip down all historical statues, burn the city down, beat the crap out of old white ladies, and paint the streets in DC to read ‘BLACK LIVES MATTER.’ But when it’s mass shootings that include blacks killing blacks, it appears not to matter at all? I’m wondering why no protests are taking place in these cities, where is the outrage of blacks killing innocent blacks? Does a 3-yr old’s life not matter? Believe me, if a cop was anywhere even close to these shootings the blame would be on the police department and society would be shamed. Until both black leaders and politicians (including Trump) address the real core issue, which is that black communities are not addressing the real problems like drugs, fatherless homes, and poor behavior both inside the home and out, then black lives will not matter in the way they should. I would like to see these black communities get back on their feet, but I can assure you that taking down statues and giving money for free isn’t the way to start the campaign for betterment.
2. Bolton says he hopes history will remember Trump ‘as a one-term president
The Hill reported: Former national security adviser John Bolton said in an interview with ABC’s Martha Raddatz aired Sunday night that he hoped President Trump would not be elected to a second term.
“I hope it will remember him as a one-term president who didn’t plunge the country irretrievably into a downward spiral we can’t recall from,” Bolton said in the interview, when asked how he thinks history will remember Trump. “We can get over one term. I have absolute confidence — even if it’s not the miracle of a conservative Republican being elected in November. Two terms, I’m more troubled about.”
Bolton was critical of both Trump and his Democratic opponent, former vice president Joe Biden, and said he would write in the name of a conservative Republican when he votes in the November general election.
John Bolton told @MarthaRaddatz he’s not planning to vote for Pres. Trump in November, but he’s “certainly not gonna vote for Joe Biden either.”

DML: Hopefully history will remember Bolton as one barbershop’s failure to groom correctly. This guy makes Scaramucci look smart, and that’s not easy to do.
3. ‘Fortnite’ Removes Police Cars From Game
Wall Street Journal reports: Police cars have been removed from the hit videogame “Fortnite,” a change that comes amid a national debate over law-enforcement practices in response to the killing of George Floyd while in Minneapolis police custody.
“Fortnite” is one of the most popular games in the world, with more than 350 million players as of May, according to its creator, closely held Epic Games Inc. The shooter-survival game, which normally features police cars and other vehicles, launched a new season last week that introduced a new map for gameplay. Many vehicles remained after the update, but not police cars, according to a person familiar with the game’s development.
“I wouldn’t say it’s a political statement. I think it’s just us being sensitive about the issues many people in our audience are dealing with,” this person said.

DML: Well this is good news, now the digitally addicted gamers can just kill the people they see in the videos and not the cops. Society is a mess, and I blame the parents. Get involved w/your kids and rip these games from their lives.
4. Trump expected to extend limits on foreign workers
Politico reports: President Donald Trump is expected to extend through the end of the year foreign-worker restrictions that were initially enacted in April because of the coronavirus pandemic, according to two people familiar with the discussions.
Trump will expand on the executive order blocking most people from receiving a permanent residency visa, or green card, by including most guest workers who come to the United States for temporary or seasonal work. That will encompass skilled workers in specialty occupations, executives, and seasonal workers who work in industries such as landscaping, housekeeping and construction, according to the two people, as well as a Department of Homeland Security official. Agricultural workers and students will not be included.
The new order is expected to continue to have broad exemptions, including for health care professionals and those entering for law enforcement or national security reasons, which will be expanded to include those with economic interests. New exemptions will probably include au pairs.
On Visas, @realDonaldTrump said that tomorrow or Monday he will be putting in place new restrictions on H-1b, H-2b, L-1 and J-1 visas. He did say that there will be exclusions.

DML: I’d love to support the president on this one, but truth is this is nothing more than window dressing for as long as there are “exclusions.” With 20+ million Americans out of work, VISAS should be ELIMINATED.
5. WHO sees record single-day increase in worldwide coronavirus cases
Fox News reports: The World Health Organization on Sunday reported a record daily increase in worldwide coronavirus cases, with more than 183,000 new infections in a period of just 24 hours.
Most of the new cases were reported in Brazil, which saw its infections jump by 54,771. The U.S., was close behind with 36,617 new cases amid a recent surge, while India recorded more than 15,400 daily infections.
Out of the new daily increase, the Americas have seen 116 041 new cases and roughly two-thirds of daily deaths recorded in the 24 hours period, according to the WHO. Experts believe the new record number of cases was due to a broader and increased community-based transmission as well as widespread testing.
DML: Nobody championed for keeping the country open more than I did, and I continue to think the “phased” approach is a waste of time UNLESS you are a Democrat trying to get the president to be a one-term guy, BUT… I warn my fellow Americans NOT to take the COVID-19 warnings lightly. This is a killer virus for the older people in the US, and I hope all folks over 50 take precautions in their daily lives.
These are my opinions, and I hope you agree.
