1. North Korea says it will counter ‘nuclear with nuclear’ over ‘hostile’ US policy
Fox News reports: North Korea Thursday said it has no choice but to “counter nuclear with nuclear” over the “hostile policy” of the United States, which it blames for failed bilateral talks.

“In order to eliminate the nuclear threats from the U.S., the DPRK government made all possible efforts either through dialogue or in resort to the international law, but all ended in vain,” North Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Institute for Disarmament and Peace said in a report, according to NK News, a U.S. website based in South Korea. “The option left was only one, and that was to counter nuclear with nuclear.”

The statement, released by state-run media, was timed to commemorate the start of the Korean War 70 years ago. The government announced plans to build up its weapons arsenal “to contain the persistent nuclear threats from the U.S.,” according to NK News.

2. Outrage as activists and journalists say the Star Spangled Banner should no longer be the National Anthem because it was written by slave owner Francis Scott Key – and suggest John Lennon’s Imagine as a replacement
The Daily Mail reports: There is growing outrage over calls by activists, historians and journalists to replace The Star Spangled Banner as the national anthem because it was written by slave owner Francis Scott Key, and potentially replace it with John Lennon’s Imagine.

Historian Daniel E. Walker and activist and journalist Kevin Powell made the remarks in an article written by Yahoo Music Editor Lyndsey Parker titled ‘Why it might be time to finally replace The Star-Spangled Banner with a new national anthem’.

They say that because the song was written by Francis Scott Key, a white slave owner who made overtly racist remarks, it is no longer appropriate that lyrics he wrote should still be the national anthem given the ongoing cultural reckoning and recognizing of systemic racism in America.

Powell suggested Lennon’s Imagine as a replacement, calling it the ‘most beautiful, unifying, all-people, all-backgrounds-together kind of song you could have’.

3. The Dixie Chicks change their name to “The Chicks”
CBS News reports: Just months after announcing their first studio album in more than a decade, the Dixie Chicks have dropped more news — they’re changing their name. The trio of performers are losing the “Dixie” and will now be called simply, “The Chicks.”

They officially changed the name on Thursday, Jessica Sciacchitano, a representative for the band, confirmed to CBS News. The band’s website and social media channels were all updated to reflect the new name.

A one-sentence statement alluding to the reason for the change is posted on their website: “We want to meet this moment.” It’s signed by all three band members, Martie Maguire, Emily Strayer and Natalie Maines.

4. Biden slammed after wrongly saying ‘we have over 120 million dead from COVID’
Fox News reports: Republicans are slamming Joe Biden after the presumptive Democratic nominee made a verbal gaffe during a campaign stop in Pennsylvania and said 120 million people had died from the novel coronavirus.

“People don’t have a job, people don’t know where to go, they don’t know what to do,” Biden said Thursday. “Now we have over 120 million dead from COVID.”

As of Thursday, there have been more than 122,000 – not million — coronavirus deaths in the United States, according to Johns Hopkins figures.

5. CDC says COVID-19 cases in U.S. may be 10 times higher than reported
NBC News reports: The true number of Americans who’ve been infected with COVID-19 may top 20 million, according to new estimates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

“Our best estimate right now is that for every case that’s reported, there actually are 10 other infections,” Dr. Robert Redfield, director of the CDC, said on a call with reporters Thursday.

The assessment comes from looking at blood samples across the country for the presence of antibodies to the virus. For every confirmed case of COVID-19, 10 more people had antibodies, Redfield said, referring to proteins in the blood that indicate whether a person’s immune system has previously fought off the coronavirus.

  1. Dennis, please keep trying to help Trump get relected as I am really getting worried about his chances. They have thrown so much at this man, I don’t know how much more he can take. It really blows my mind that so many in this country want this radical lifestyle. Please help! I am a retired person and never thought I would see this in my lifetime.

    • Donna, no one can help Trump, even DML.
Trump is the one to blame, not anyone else.
His harsh words do not support his actions,
these tactics will not help him to be re-elected.
DML will run and you should vote for him.
      I WILL!!!

      • your comment is inane…Pres Trump has already done more for America than any other president in his first term. And, he is better than any other candidate the Dems can dig up. The only way he doesn’t win is voter fraud.
