1.U.S. regulators rejected Elon Musk’s bid to test brain chips in humans, citing safety risks
Reuters – On at least four occasions since 2019, Elon Musk has predicted that his medical device company, Neuralink, would soon start human trials of a revolutionary brain implant to treat intractable conditions such as paralysis and blindness.

Yet the company, founded in 2016, didn’t seek permission from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) until early 2022 – and the agency rejected the application, seven current and former employees told Reuters.

The rejection has not been previously reported. In explaining the decision to Neuralink, the agency outlined dozens of issues the company must address before human testing, a critical milestone on the path to final product approval, the staffers said. The agency’s major safety concerns involved the device’s lithium battery; the potential for the implant’s tiny wires to migrate to other areas of the brain; and questions over whether and how the device can be removed without damaging brain tissue, the employees said.

A year after the rejection, Neuralink is still working through the agency’s concerns. Three staffers said they were skeptical the company could quickly resolve the issues – despite Musk’s latest prediction at a Nov. 30 presentation that the company would secure FDA human-trial approval this spring.

DML:The FDA, much like the CDC, is a collection of overpaid, underachieving government workers who are bought a paid for by the drug companies. To think they will bust his balls when people are incapable of walking or seeing, it makes me sick. The FDA will green light poison and have you inject it your arms, without adequate testing, but they don’t like Elon’s politics, so the crippled will stay that way.

2.Trump supporters say former president will have the stage and the headlines all to himself at annual CPAC conference
DailyMail – Former President Donald Trump will be there but his main rival for the Republican nomination Ron DeSantis has more important business elsewhere.

Pillow salesman Mike Lindell will attend, but not Charlie Kirk, one of the most high-profile of conservative activists.

And Vivek Ramaswamy will take his newly minted campaign in front of the right-wing faithful while Nikki Haley, the only other declared 2024 runner, will stay away. Governor Ron DeSantis, a frontrunner in polls and a target of Trump’s aggressive and mean-spirited posts on social media, is not attending the annual event.

The Conservative Political Action Conference kicks off on Thursday with its organizer facing sexual assault allegations and fresh questions about whether its collection of hardline firebrands is as relevant as when Trump was in office. The event’s chairman Matt Schlapp faces his own difficulties. He has been hit with a lawsuit accusing him of fondling a male aide to then-Senate candidate Herschel Walker in Georgia in October.

3.Antony Blinken Meets With Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov at G-20 Meeting
WSJ – NEW DELHI—Secretary of State Antony Blinken had his first in-person conversation with his Russian counterpart in more than a year in an effort to address growing tensions between the two countries since Moscow launched the war in Ukraine.

The 10-minute encounter between Mr. Blinken and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on the sidelines of the Group of 20 ministerial meeting in India’s capital Thursday was unscheduled, U.S. officials said, and was aimed at delivering three key messages.

Mr. Blinken approached his Russian counterpart with the aim of urging Russia to rejoin the New Start nuclear arms treaty, from which Russia formally withdrew on Thursday, a senior State Department official said. He also pressed Russia to release ex-U.S. Marine Paul Whelan from detention in Russia, and he stressed the continuing support by the U.S. and its allies for Ukraine “for as long as it takes.”

The two men had spoken once by telephone since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022 and have attended summits together during the past year, but they hadn’t met one-on-one. Mr. Blinken had said before the meeting that he had no intention of speaking directly with his Russian counterpart but noted that they would be participating in some joint sessions together.

DML: Until China wants the war to end, this is all window dressing.

4.Controversial school board member endorsed curriculum that removes ‘Islamic terror’ from 9/11 history lessons
A Fairfax, Virginia, school board member recommended curriculum materials for teachers to use for their lesson plans which opposed using terms such as “radical Islamic terror,” “Islamic terrorists” and “jihadists” when discussing the history of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Abrar Omeish is a school board member and Georgetown law student who has become marred in controversy over a series of controversial statements. In one instance, she refused to vote on a motion to commemorate 9/11 victims.

Fox News Digital found that in 2021 Omeish recommended public school teachers use a “culturally responsive” curriculum guide for their lesson plans about 9/11 history.

It said, “Do not frame the lessons as a chance to explore the definition of terrorism or a clash of two different societies/cultures.”

“There is much disagreement about what terrorism means, and it’s often used in a biased manner,” the guide continued.

Teachers should screen themselves for biases against Arab-Muslims using an online test before educating students on 9/11, it recommended. To create a “safe space” teachers should “wear cultural items from Muslim countries as a show of support (e.g., scarf).”

DML: This woman should be sent out on the first available flight heading back to that trash sand pit known as the Middle East. I’ll leave it at that.

5.Biden laughs at Marjorie Taylor Greene pinning 2020 fentanyl deaths of two brothers on him
NY POST – President Biden chuckled Wednesday night while knocking Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene for falsely blaming him for the 2020 deaths of two Michigan brothers — whose mother emotionally slammed the federal response to surging fentanyl deaths.

“A little bit of more of Marjorie Taylor Greene and a few more, you’re gonna have a lot of Republicans running our way. Isn’t she amazing? Whew,” Biden told a gathering of House Democrats in Baltimore.

“I was the reason, she was very specific, I shouldn’t digress probably. I’ve read she was very specific recently saying that a mom, a poor mother who lost two kids to fentanyl, that I killed her sons. Well, the interesting thing: that fentanyl they took came during the last administration [he-he].”

Shocked critics were quick to blast the 80-year-old commander-in-chief for the tone-deaf clap-back.

“@POTUS needs to apologize for this immediately. No person, let alone the president of the United States, laughs when speaking about a mother who lost two sons to fentanyl poisoning,” Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) seethed.

DML: Would you expect anything more from a guy who’s kid smokes crack and sleeps with prostitutes, videos himself doing it, and then sells his country out to foreigners. Maybe Joey Magoo can get a seat next to that Arab slime in story #4.
