1 – Elon Musk won’t join Twitter’s board after all
The Verge reports: Elon Musk is no longer going to join Twitter’s board, Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal has announced in a message to the company. Agrawal last week confirmed that Musk would be appointed to the board following his purchase of 9.2 percent of the company’s shares, but now says that Musk has decided against taking up the seat.
“We announced on Tuesday that Elon would be appointed to the Board contingent on a background check and formal acceptance,” Agrawal writes. “Elon’s appointment to the board was to become officially effective 4/9, but Elon shared that same morning that he will no longer be joining the board. I believe this is for the best. We have and will always value input from our shareholders whether they are on our Board or not. Elon is our biggest shareholder and we will remain open to his input.”
Joining Twitter’s board would have prevented Musk from owning more than 14.9 percent of the company. At the time that Musk’s purchase became public knowledge, his stake in Twitter was worth $2.89 billion.

2 – Not just Florida. More than a dozen states propose so-called ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bills
NPR reports: First Florida. Then Alabama. Now, lawmakers in Ohio and Louisiana are considering legislation that mimics the Florida law. And Texas Gov. Greg Abbott says he’ll make a similar bill a top priority at the next session.
Across the United States, at least a dozen states are considering new legislation that in several ways will mirror Florida’s new controversial law, referred to by some opponents as “Don’t Say Gay.”
The specific details regarding the bills vary between states. But overall, they seek to prohibit schools from using a curriculum or discussing topics of gender identity or sexual orientation.
Taking Florida’s lead, states began proposing their own bills. Among them:
- Alabama advanced a measure prohibiting early classroom instruction on sexual and gender identity.
- An Arizona bill aims to change the state’s sex-ed curriculum to focus on biological sex and “not gender identities.”
- In neighboring Georgia, lawmakers targeted private schools — which the state can regulate. But it failed to get any traction this year.
- In Iowa, a Senate proposal would require that parents opt in — in writing — to any instruction “relating to gender identity.”
- In Louisiana, lawmakers introduced HB 837. It would limit discussion of sexual orientation or gender identity in some grades and prohibit it all together in others. A South Carolina bill is similar.
- A Missouri bill would ban “gender or sexual diversity training” in public schools. An Indiana bill does the same. As would a Kentucky bill.
- In Oklahoma, a senate bill would ban books from school libraries that focus on “the study of sex, sexual lifestyles, or sexual activity.”
- Tennessee‘s HB 800 bans books and instructional materials “that promote, normalize, support, or address lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, or transgender issues or lifestyle.”
- Ohio‘s HB616 has similar language used in the Florida bill.
DML: There goes NPR, still pushing that “don’t say gay” hoax. But, every state in America should have a Parental Rights Bill like Florida. Schools have NO BUSINESS trying to sexualize our kids!
3 – California, New York handled COVID-19 lockdowns the worst, Florida among the best, a new study shows
Fox News reports: A new study has graded states by how well they handled the coronavirus pandemic and its subsequent restrictions and lockdowns, showing a stark contrast between liberal and conservative states.
The Committee To Unleash Prosperity study compared state performance on metrics including the economy, education, and mortality from the virus, and examined how states and their respective governments handled the pandemic response.
“Shutting down their economies and schools was by far the biggest mistake governors and state officials made during COVID, particularly in blue states,” Steve Moore, co-founder of the Committee to Unleash Prosperity, told Fox News Digital. “We hope the results of this study will persuade governors not to close schools and businesses the next time we have a new virus variant.”
New York, California, New Jersey and Illinois were among the worst in dealing with the coronavirus, performing “poorly on every measure,” the report said.
States like Utah, Nebraska, Vermont, Montana, South Dakota and Florida — all governed by Republicans — received the highest scores in the study, first through sixth, respectively. In fact, 13 of the top 15 states in the study are governed by Republicans. (Montana had a Democratic governor until the 2020 election.)
“The study verifies other studies which have found that locking down businesses, stores, churches, schools, and restaurants had almost no impact on health outcomes across states,” the report determined. “States with strict lockdowns had virtually no better performance in COVID death rates than states that remained mostly open for business.”

4 – Psaki: Student Loan Borrowers Likely to Have to Pay Debt at ‘Sometime’
Breitbart reports: On this week’s broadcast of “Fox News Sunday,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said that student loan borrowers would have to start paying their debt “sometime” while discussing the administration’s fourth extension on the monthly loan payments and interest.
Perino said, “Do you think that if you hold student loan debt right now, that you will ever have to make a payment during the Biden administration?”
Psaki said, “I suspect that sometime you will, but again, we are going to continue to assess every month, every few months on where things stand, both looking, of course at COVID, but also economic data and where we need to continue to help give the American people some breathing room.”

DML: So, they just convinced a lot of progressives to vote for Biden, thinking they would get student debt eliminated, and now they admit that won’t happen.
5 – Key Biden Gun Control Policy Coming In ‘Days’
The Daily Caller reports: President Joe Biden is set to unveil his administration’s finalized version of its “ghost gun” regulation as early as Monday, the Associated Press reports.
“I want to rein in the proliferation of so-called ‘ghost guns.’ These are guns that are homemade, built from a kit that include the directions on how to finish the firearm. You can go buy the kit. They have no serial numbers, so when they show up at a crime scene, they can’t be traced,” Biden said in an April 2021 speech.
In the proposal, released in May 2021, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) also sought to require manufacturers and dealers distributing ghost gun parts to be federally licensed, as well as for licensed firearms dealers to add serial numbers to all unserialized guns they plan on selling, according to the AP. Background checks would also be required for the sale of kits containing parts necessary in the assembly of firearms, the outlet also noted.
The Biden administration is expected to come out with its long-awaited ghost gun rule aimed at reining in privately made firearms without serial numbers as soon as Monday, three people familiar with the matter told @AP. https://t.co/yAa4RflOWe
