1 – Biden reroutes billions in healthcare funding to to help care for illegal alien minors
Politico reports: The Department of Health and Human Services has diverted more than $2 billion meant for other health initiatives toward covering the cost of caring for unaccompanied immigrant children, as the Biden administration grapples with a record influx of migrants on the southern border.
The redirected funds include $850 million that Congress originally allocated to rebuild the nation’s Strategic National Stockpile, the emergency medical reserve strained by the Covid-19 response. Another $850 million is being taken from a pot intended to help expand coronavirus testing, according to three people with knowledge of the matter. HHS also has pulled roughly $436 million from a range of existing health initiatives across the department.
The reshuffling, which HHS detailed to congressional appropriators in notices over the last two months, illustrates the extraordinary financial toll that sheltering more than 20,000 unaccompanied children has taken on the department so far this year, as it scrambled to open emergency housing and add staff and services across the country.
On its own, the $2.13 billion in diverted money exceeds the government’s annual budget for the unaccompanied children program in each of the last two fiscal years. It is also far above the roughly half-billion dollars that the Trump administration shifted in 2018 toward sheltering a migrant child population that had swelled as a result of its strict immigration policies, including separating children from adults at the border.
2 – Space Force Commander Relieved From Duty Over Comments Criticizing Marxism, Critical Race Theory In US Military
The Daily Caller reports: A U.S. Space Force commanding officer was fired from his post on Friday after expressing concern on a podcast that Marxist ideologies are becoming prevalent in the U.S. military.
Lt Col. Matthew Lohmeier, commander of 11th Space Warning Squadron at Buckley Air Force Base, Colo., was relieved from duty over a “loss of trust and confidence in his ability to lead,” a Space Force spokesperson told Military.com.
“This decision was based on public comments made by Lt. Col. Lohmeier in a recent podcast. Lt. Gen. Whiting has initiated a Command Directed Investigation on whether these comments constituted prohibited partisan political activity,” the spokesperson added.
Lohmeier earlier this month self-published a book titled “Irresistible Revolution: Marxism’s Goal of Conquest & the Unmaking of the American Military,” which is described as “a timely and bold contribution from an active-duty Space Force lieutenant colonel who sees the impact of a neo-Marxist agenda at the ground level within our armed forces.”
He appeared on the podcast “Information Operation” with host L. Todd Wood to promote the book and spoke out against U.S. institutions, including the military, increasingly adopting leftist practices like critical race theory.
“The diversity, inclusion and equity industry and the trainings we are receiving in the military … is rooted in critical race theory, which is rooted in Marxism,” Lohmeier said.

3 – Wisconsin teacher placed on leave after video appears to show tirade against maskless student
The Washington Examiner reports: A Wisconsin high school teacher was placed on administrative leave following an incident in which a viral video appears to show her berating a student for failing to wear a mask as a precaution meant to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Talk radio host Vicki McKenna shared the video, claiming that she found it on TikTok and edited the shot to protect the student’s identity. She declined to say who published the video.
“I don’t care if you’re vaccinated, you little dink,” the teacher told the student in the video. “I don’t want to get sick and die. There’s other people you can infect just because you’re vaccinated. You know what? You’re not a special person around here,” the unidentified teacher can be heard saying. “You should hear about how everyone talks about you around here. You’re a jerk. You’re a jerk. And you need to have respect for other people in your life.”
The Poynette School District Administrator Matt Shappell acknowledged the incident and said, “The School District of Poynette is aware of an incident that occurred today, May 11th, 2021, involving a teacher and student at the Poynette High School. The District is initiating an investigation and the teacher involved has been put on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.”

4 – University of California agrees to nix SAT, ACT in admissions decisions in settlement with minority students
Fox News reports: The University of California agreed to no longer consider SAT or ACT scores when making admissions and scholarship decisions under a settlement finalized Friday in a 2019 lawsuit filed on behalf of low income students of color and students with disabilities.
The 10-campus system, which has more than 280,000 students statewide, decided not to continue fighting a judge’s injunction issued last fall that barred it from considering the scores for admission even when submitted voluntarily, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. Students may still elect to submit SAT or ACT scores to satisfy the entry level writing requirement or for placement in courses.
The lawsuit argued that low income students of color were at disadvantage because standardized test questions often contain inherent bias that more privileged children are better equipped to answer and wealthier students often take expensive prep course to boost scores that others cannot afford. It also argues the students with disabilities could not easier travel to exams and class sites.
Under the agreement, SAT and ACT scores won’t be considered for admission for students applying for entry between fall 2021 and spring 2025. However, the scores that are submitted voluntarily can be used for course placement after a student is admitted.

5 – CDC’s Walensky: The Science ‘Has Really Just Evolved’ In The Last Two Weeks
The Daily Caller reports: CDC Director Rochelle Walensky told ABC’s Martha Raddatz Sunday the reversal on mask guidance came as a result of rapidly evolving science.
Raddatz pressed Walensky during a Sunday morning appearance on “This Week,” asking what had prompted the CDC to so abruptly abandon mask recommendations for vaccinated Americans and why she hadn’t mentioned that possibility during a Senate hearing just days earlier.

Walensky also admitted in a separate interview that 223 people have died from covid after being vaccinated, but she added some of the deaths might be from other health conditions.
