1 – Biden to sign executive orders today ramping up ObamaCare through special enrollment period
The Hill reports: President Biden will direct federal agencies on Thursday to open a special enrollment period for Affordable Care Act exchanges in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and review existing policies from the Trump administration that “limit Americans’ access to health care.”
Those directives will come in the form of executive orders Biden plans to sign Thursday afternoon, including one that rescinds the Mexico City Policy that bans the use of U.S. funding for foreign organizations that provide or promote abortions.
The executive order Biden will sign Thursday directs the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to open a special enrollment period from Feb. 15 through May 15, something the Trump administration refused to do, despite the pandemic.
Federal agencies will also be directed to review other policies from the prior administration that could “limit” access to health care, including Medicaid work requirements and policies that “undermine” the ACA or protections for people with pre-existing conditions or make it more difficult to enroll in federal health programs.
Biden is also seeking to undo Trump’s policies that required family planning providers participating in the Title X family planning program to stop providing or promoting abortions to remain eligible for funding.

2 – John Kerry: Fossil Fuel Workers Who Lose Their Jobs Will Have ‘Better Choice’ To Go Make Solar Panels
The Daily Caller reports: John Kerry said Wednesday that President Joe Biden wants fossil fuel workers who lose their jobs to “have better choices” like going to make solar panels.
When asked what he has to say to people who believe they are “seeing an end to their livelihoods,” Kerry, who is Biden’s pick as the special presidential envoy for climate, said that the president is focused on creating “new jobs.”
“So what President Biden wants to do is make sure those folks have better choices, that they have alternatives. They can be the people who go to work to make those solar panels,” Kerry noted. He said that a focus of the Biden climate plan is to grow clean energy jobs in the United States.
Kerry added that “workers have been fed a false narrative” over the last four years, which he said is “no surprise.”

When one reporter noted the huge cost of Biden’s executive orders on climate change, Kerry rattled off the money that multiple hurricanes have cost, and declared that the U.S. is already spending the money, implying that the money spent on climate change will stop the hurricanes.

3 -Virginia parent boils over in frustration against school shutdown
Fox News reports: A parent in Virginia is apparently losing his patience regarding local schools being closed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, the father is seen addressing members of the Loudoun County School Board.
“You should all be fired from your day jobs,” the mask-wearing father says during the public comment portion of a recent meeting, “because if your employers knew that you were more inefficient than the DMV, you would be replaced in a heartbeat.”
“The garbage workers who pick up my freakin’ trash risk their lives every day more than anyone in this school system!” he yelled in frustration.
As a parent, this pandemic has brought forth some incredible challenges.
This dad has had enough, we all have. No real metrics to safely open the schools, while the SB continues to kick the can further down the road. Many parents feel just as he does. #LCPS #openschools pic.twitter.com/Oa1GxNMzsp

4 – Biden admin issues ‘terrorism alert’, warns of politically motivated violence
The Associated Press reported: The Department of Homeland Security issued a national terrorism bulletin Wednesday warning of the potential for lingering violence from people motivated by anti-government sentiment after President Joe Biden’s election, suggesting the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol may embolden extremists and set the stage for additional attacks.
The department did not cite a specific threat, but pointed to “a heightened threat environment across the United States” that it believes “will persist” for weeks after Biden’s Jan. 20 inauguration.
“Information suggests that some ideologically-motivated violent extremists with objections to the exercise of governmental authority and the presidential transition, as well as other perceived grievances fueled by false narratives, could continue to mobilize to incite or commit violence,″ the bulletin said.
The Biden administration’s DHS provided the following in their bulletin, warning of “domestic terrorists:”
- Throughout 2020, Domestic Violent Extremists (DVEs) targeted individuals with opposing views engaged in First Amendment-protected, non-violent protest activity. DVEs motivated by a range of issues, including anger over COVID-19 restrictions, the 2020 election results, and police use of force have plotted and on occasion carried out attacks against government facilities.
- Long-standing racial and ethnic tension – including opposition to immigration – has driven DVE attacks, including a 2019 shooting in El Paso, Texas that killed 23 people.
- DHS is concerned these same drivers to violence will remain through early 2021 and some DVEs may be emboldened by the January 6, 2021 breach of the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. to target elected officials and government facilities.
- DHS remains concerned that Homegrown Violent Extremists (HVEs) inspired by foreign terrorist groups, who committed three attacks government officials in 2020, remain a threat.
- Threats of violence against critical infrastructure, including the electric, telecommunications and healthcare sectors, increased in 2020 with violent extremists citing misinformation and conspiracy theories about COVID-19 for their actions.

5 – Study reveals shocking amount illegal aliens in U.S. are costing American taxpayers each year
Roughly 14.5 million illegal aliens live across the United States, costing American taxpayers about $134 billion every year, a new study reveals.
An annual study released by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) finds that the illegal alien population in the U.S. has grown by at least 200,000 since 2019 and has cost taxpayers an additional $2 billion since last year.
In their report, FAIR notes that an estimated 60 percent of all the new illegal aliens annually are visa overstays, but thanks to the coronavirus travel ban Trump implemented, fewer people entered on a visa in 2020.
In 2010, FAIR estimated there were 11 million illegal aliens in the U.S., but the latest estimate of 14.5 million indicates a 31 percent increase in 10 years.
The study also reveals that the majority – about 71 percent – of the illegal aliens in the U.S. are living in ten states, as listed below:
- California – 3,042,000
- Texas – 2,073,000
- Florida – 1,104,000
- New York – 1,007,000
- New Jersey – 649,000
- Illinois – 585,000
- Georgia – 479,000
- North Carolina – 455,000
- Arizona – 422,000
- Virginia – 390,000

6 – Tens of thousands of voters change political affiliation after Capitol riot
The Hill reports: More than 30,000 voters who had been registered members of the Republican Party have changed their voter registration in the weeks after a mob of pro-Trump supporters attacked the Capitol — an issue that led the House to impeach the former president for inciting the violence.
The massive wave of defections is a virtually unprecedented exodus that could spell trouble for a party that is trying to find its way after losing the presidential race and the Senate majority.
It could also represent the tip of a much larger iceberg: The 30,000 who have left the Republican Party reside in just a few states that report voter registration data, and information about voters switching between parties, on a weekly basis.
- Pennsylvania: 10,000 voters have dropped out of the Republican Party. About one-third have switched to the Democrat Party, the others registered with a third party or no party affiliation.
- Also in PA, 2,093 voters left the Democrat Party – two-thirds moved to the GOP, the rest to a third party or no party.
- North Carolina: Nearly 6,000 voters left the GOP
- Arizona: Nearly 5,000 left the GOP
- Colorado: Over 4,500 left the GOP
- Maryland: 2,300 left the GOP
- Florida – 1,000 Republicans in two Miami-area counties left the GOP
- Florida – 2,000 Republicans in three Tampa Bay counties left the GOP
