1 – Liberal city could lose hundreds of cops over vaccine mandate
Fox News reports: Over 200 Seattle police officers could lose their jobs over the city’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate because they’ve either not received the jab or would refuse to hand over their private medical data, according to a report Monday.
The Jason Rantz Show on the city’s KTTH said the number represents about 20% of the department’s deployable staff. The department and Mayor Jenny A. Durkan’s office did not immediately respond to after-hour emails from Fox News.
No national statistics show the vaccination rate for America’s entire population of first responders but individual police and fire departments across the country report figures far below the national rate of 74% of adults who have had at least one dose.
The KTTH report said Durkan’s mandate requires city workers to take the jab by Oct. 18 or face termination. The report said losing 200 additional officers after last year’s push to defund could be devastating to the city.

DML: Who else thinks Dems are trying to use this to cull out conservatives from every level of society?
2 – Newsom Wants Taxpayers to Spend $16.7M on ‘Cash Assistance’ for Afghans
Breitbart reports: California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), currently facing a recall election on September 14, wants the state’s taxpayers to spend $16.7 million on “cash assistance” and “other services” for Afghans who are resettled in California as part of President Joe Biden’s massive resettlement operation.
In a statement, Newsom and Democrats in the state legislature asked that about $16.7 million in taxpayer money be redirected to aid Afghans resettled in California by the Biden administration.
“The Governor, with support from legislative leaders, is requesting $16.7 million in general funds, which will be used to provide cash assistance and other services for newly arriving Afghans in the state,” a press release from Newsom’s office reads.
Newsom’s push to spend taxpayer money on cash assistance and other services for Afghans comes as nearly 162,000 residents in the state are experiencing homelessness on any given day. Likewise, California continues to face a major opioid and drug overdose crisis.
CA has been & always will be a place of refuge for those seeking safety or a better life. We are taking comprehensive action & requesting $16.7M in general funds, which will be used to provide assistance & other services for newly arriving Afghans in CA.https://t.co/qUPGtrhdsl

3 – Virginia to remove 12-ton Robert E. Lee statue in state capital this week
ABC News reports: More than a year after Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam ordered the removal of a giant statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee in the state’s capital, the monument will be coming down this week, state officials announced Monday.
The statue, erected in Richmond in 1890, will be removed from Monument Avenue this Wednesday, nearly a week after the Supreme Court of Virginia cleared the way for the state-owned monument to come down following several legal battles.
“Virginia’s largest monument to the Confederate insurrection will come down this week,” Northam said in a statement. “This is an important step in showing who we are and what we value as a Commonwealth.”
Northam ordered the removal of the statue in June 2020, amid nationwide protests against symbols of racism and oppression that erupted following the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis while in police custody.

4 – Brazen shoplifters walk out of home improvement store with full carts
Fox News reports: Video of shoplifters stealing thousands of dollars worth of electrical wires from a Lowe’s store in Oregon has angered local residents.
“It was so blatant, that’s what riled me up,” Keizer, Oregon, resident Andrew Sullivan, who filmed the incident, told the Keizer Times. “They were just strolling through the parking lot, just riding the carts.”
The incident unfolded in broad daylight on Aug 25, with the video showing two men pushing shopping carts loaded with electric wire walking out of the Lowe’s doors as two employees are helpless to stop them.
Lowe’s eventually reported the incident, and an investigation is ongoing, but Keizer Police Lieutenant Andrew Copeland noted that in Oregon, many jails aren’t taking offenders such as shoplifters, in order to cut back on their populations during COVID-19.
“Once you’ve stolen from Lowe’s once and know they can’t stop you, there’s no real consequence,” Copeland said, noting employees at many chain stores aren’t allowed to stop shoplifters. “Second thing is, these people know they can’t go to jail.”

DML: What’s worse… the theft, or the blatant lack of conscience and moral decay that accepts it as normal?
5 – College Football Team Finds Way To Honor 13 US Soldiers Killed In Afghanistan
The Daily Caller reports: The Auburn Tigers found a way to honor the 13 U.S. service members killed in a terrorist attack in Afghanistan during the United States’ withdrawal from the country.
“I believe in my Country, because it is a land of freedom,” a tweet from Auburn’s official Twitter account read over the weekend. “Today we honor the 13,” it added. “Because of their sacrifice, it is possible to have days like today.”
