1 – Biden to pitch sweeping ‘family plan’ in speech to Congress
The Associated Press reports: Marking his first 100 days in office, President Joe Biden will use his first joint address to Congress to pitch a $1.8 trillion investment in children, families and education that would fundamentally transform the role government plays in American life.
In the nationally televised ritual of a president standing before Congress, Biden will lay out a sweeping proposal for universal preschool, two years of free community college, $225 billion for child care and monthly payments of at least $250 to parents. His ideas reflect the frailties that were uncovered last year by the pandemic, and he will make the case that economic growth would best come from taxing the rich to help the middle class and the poor.
New in his Wednesday speech is a “families” plan that could cement his legacy with $1.8 trillion worth of spending over 10 years.
A significant amount of the proposal would ensure that eligible families receive at least $250 monthly per child through 2025, extending the enhanced tax credit that was part of Biden’s COVID-19 aid. There would be $200 billion for free preschool for all 3- and 4-year-olds. Another $225 billion would pay for subsidized child care and invest in child care workers.
Yesterday, Biden walked outside wearing a mask – to announce that vaccinated people don’t need to wear a mask outside. A reporter called him out on it:

2 – Brawlers wreck Mississippi restaurant
WJTV News reports: JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Officials at a Jackson restaurant are working to identify the people who fought in their dining area this weekend. The incident at the Juicy Seafood restaurant, formerly known as the Kickin’ Crab, was caught on camera.
On Saturday, the two groups involved in the fight had just sat down in the main dining area. They were eating when harsh insults began going back and forth from each table. The argument escalated quickly. The families began throwing glasses, napkin holders and chairs at each other.
As the families involved in the fight left the restaurant, employees took pictures of their license plates and turned the videos over to Jackson police. The report says by the time police arrived, the brawlers had all left.

Another brawl broke out Sunday at the Miami International Airport, after a gate agent announced there weren’t enough standby seats on a flight to Chicago. Only one person was arrested.

3 – Police department staffing ‘in dire straits’ amid high crime rates, recruitment woes
Fox News reports: Nearly 190 cops left the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) in 2020 and 43 have stepped away from the Kentucky city’s agency so far in 2021, either choosing to retire or resign altogether, as law enforcement officials struggle to recruit new members to make up for a deficit in manpower, authorities and a union spokesperson told Fox News on Tuesday.
Statistics provided by LMPD on Tuesday show the department has hired 26 new members so far this year, while 43 have left. The 1,069-person department falls 255 people short of its “authorized strength” of 1,324 — the number of personnel it is authorized to employ, statistics show.
Meanwhile, LMPD hired 104 new members in 2020 but lost 188 to retirement or resignations, according to data. By the end of last year, LMPD employed 1,163 police personnel, instead of its 1,324-person “authorized strength.”
And in NEW YORK: Fox reports: More than 5,300 NYPD uniformed officers retired or put in their papers to leave in 2020 — a 75 percent spike from the year before, department data show. The exodus — amid the pandemic, anti-cop hostility, riots and a skyrocketing number of NYC shootings — saw 2,600 officers say goodbye to the job and another 2,746 file for retirement, a combined 5,346.
NYPD veteran ANGEL MAYSONET: “Police are being vilified across the country, they’re being painted as racist occupiers, just going in like an occupying army, trying to disrupt communities when it’s exactly the opposite. They’re being demonized and vilified by politicians.”
DML: You can thank the Democrats for this.
4 – Ex-Google employee: Big Tech’s biz model is ‘a society that is addicted, outraged, polarized’
Fox Business reports: Ex-Google employee and Big Tech critic Tristan Harris on Tuesday said the business model of big social media companies “is to create a society that is addicted, outraged, [and] polarized,” among other things.
Harris, co-founder and president of the nonprofit Center for Humane Technology, told the Senate Judiciary Committee during a Tuesday hearing on social media algorithms that companies like Google’s YouTube and Facebook are profiting off of users’ addiction to their platforms.
“It’s almost like having the heads of Exxon, BP and Shell asking about, ‘What are you doing to responsibly stop climate change?’” Harris said of social media companies’ incentives for employees to increase user engagement on their platforms. “Their business model is to create a society that is addicted, outraged, polarized, performative and disinformed. That’s just the fundamentals of how it works.”

5 – Count of Illegal Alien Population Excluded from U.S. Census Data
Breitbart reports: An estimation of the number of illegal aliens living in the United States is excluded from early data released this week by the U.S. Census Bureau thanks to executive orders from President Joe Biden.
Census Bureau officials released population totals this week, revealing that the U.S. population stands at about 331,449,281 residents, adding more than 22,700,000 residents since 2010. Still unknown is how many of those nearly 331.5 million U.S. residents are illegal aliens.
In March 2018, former President Trump’s administration announced that it would seek to put the American citizenship question back on the Census to determine how many citizens, legal immigrants, and illegal aliens reside in the U.S.
Then, in June 2019, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the administration could put the American citizenship question on the Census. But the Court sent the case back to a lower court that did not hold a hearing before the cutoff for the printing of the 2020 Census forms.
Likewise, Biden signed an executive order that stopped the Census Bureau’s collection of citizenship data that would have helped determine the illegal alien population living in the U.S., as well as the citizen population.
DML: Biden doesn’t WANT you to know how many illegal aliens are in America.
