1 – House passes $40 billion Ukrainian aid package
Fox News reports: The House of Representatives has passed a nearly $40 billion bill that will aid Ukraine in its war with Russia.
The bill, which includes military, economic and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, cleared the chamber 368 to 57. No Democrats opposed the bill.
The sum comes just over the $33 billion President Biden initially requested from the chamber. The bill now heads to the Senate where it has bipartisan support.
House approves nearly $40 billion in aid for Ukraine.
The vote was 368-57.
All nay votes came from Republicans.
The bill now goes to the Senate. But the Senate may not vote on the plan until next week.

On Wednesday morning, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy took to Twitter to credit Pelosi for the bill’s passage.
I thank @SpeakerPelosi and all friends of 🇺🇦 in 🇺🇸 House of Representatives for the quick approval of the law on additional financial support for our state initiated by @POTUS. We are looking forward to consideration of this important document for us by the Senate.

DML: Trump didn’t ask for near that much for the border wall. Nancy, why don’t you want to protect Americans too?
2 – BREAKING: Inflation barreled ahead at 8.3% in April from a year ago, remaining near 40-year highs
CNBC reports: Inflation rose again in April, continuing a climb that has pushed consumers to the brink and is threatening the economic expansion, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Wednesday.
The consumer price index, a broad-based measure of prices for goods and services, increased 8.3% from a year ago, higher than the Dow Jones estimate for an 8.1% gain.
Removing volatile food and energy prices, so-called core CPI still rose 6.2%, against expectations for a 6% gain.
Inflation has been the single biggest threat to a recovery that began early in the pandemic and saw the economy in 2021 stage its biggest single-year growth level since 1984. Rising prices at the pump and in grocery stores have been one problem, but inflation has spread beyond those two areas into housing, auto sales and a host of other areas.
Another red-hot CPI Inflation number at 8.3%, worse than expected and sends Real Wages lower for a 7th straight month. https://t.co/AFuyKN7ny4

3 – Democratic support for SCOTUS expansion grows after leak
The Hill reports: Support for a bill to expand the Supreme Court has ticked up among House Democrats in the aftermath of a leaked opinion that would overturn Roe v. Wade becoming public.
Since the leak, the Judiciary Act of 2021 has picked up support from five more Democrats. The one-sentence bill would expand the Supreme Court from nine members to 13.
In the last week, Democratic Reps. Brendan Boyle (Pa.), Nanette Diaz Barragán (Calif.), David Cicilline (R.I.), Jimmy Gomez (Calif.), and Mark DeSaulnier (Calif.) have added their names to the legislation, bringing the total number of bill sponsors to at least 56.
Democratic Reps. Hank Johnson (Ga.), Jerry Nadler (N.Y.) and Mondaire Jones (N.Y.) introduced the bill in April 2021. The pace of new sponsorships significantly slowed by the end of the year, but saw a burst of interest following last week’s leaked draft opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health that would overturn the landmark 1973 abortion rights decision.
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) has also announced support for expanding the Supreme Court in recent days.
Adam Schiff is a leader in the fight to defend our democracy. That he has joined our movement to expand the Court is a big deal. https://t.co/etAZPybXAe

Since 1988, Republicans have won the popular vote exactly one time, but have selected 6 of the last 9 SCOTUS Justices.
Expand the court or an antidemocratic minority will continue to control our laws & our bodies.

Abolish the filibuster. Codify Roe. Expand the Supreme Court. Protect abortion rights by any means necessary.
We need all of the above. This is an emergency.
— Cori Bush (@CoriBush) May 3, 2022
End the filibuster. Codify #RoeVWade with a national law protecting abortion rights. Expand the Supreme Court. Stop this horrifying injustice in its tracks.
— Elizabeth Warren (@ewarren) May 3, 2022
Abolish the filibuster.
Codify #RoeVWade into law.
Expand the Court.
— Rep. Jimmy Gomez (@RepJimmyGomez) May 6, 2022
Let’s not kid ourselves: the GOP and their far-right stronghold on the Supreme Court won’t stop at abortion rights. How do we know they won’t go after gay marriage next?
We shouldn’t take our chances. Expand the Supreme Court and restore balance to the bench.

4 – Twitter founder Jack Dorsey now admits he was wrong to ban Trump, says it was a bad ‘business decision’ and AGREES with Elon Musk that the ex-President’s account should be reinstated
The Daily Mail reports: Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey has said he agrees with Elon Musk’s decision to reverse a ban on Donald Trump on the platform – despite Dorsey being CEO when the decision was made.
Musk, who is in the process of completing his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter, on Tuesday revealed he intended to revoke the ban, calling it ‘a morally bad decision and foolish in the extreme’.
Trump was banned from Twitter in January 2021, in response to his supporters storming the US Capitol and attempting to block the certification of Joe Biden’s election victory.
Speaking at a London conference on the future of cars, Musk said: ‘I do think it was not correct to ban Donald Trump.’
The Tesla founder said Dorsey, who was CEO until November 2021, agreed with him.
‘I do agree,’ Dorsey tweeted, pointing out that he supported bans for sharing content such as child sexual exploitation (CSE), but not generally.
I do agree. There are exceptions (CSE, illegal behaviour, spam or network manipulation, etc), but generally permanent bans are a failure of ours and don’t work, which I wrote about here after the event (and called for a resilient social media protocol): https://t.co/fQ9KnrCQGX
— jack⚡️ (@jack) May 10, 2022
it was a business decision, it shouldn’t have been. and we should always revisit our decisions and evolve as necessary. I stated in that thread and still believe that permanent bans of individuals are directionally wrong.
— jack⚡️ (@jack) May 10, 2022
as I said in the thread, we made the decision based on the information we had and what we thought best. impossible situation. I’m saying a corporation should not have to make this decision in the first place. not for something as important as public conversation.
— jack⚡️ (@jack) May 10, 2022
DML: Twitter’s decisions to block the Hunter Biden story, then ban Trump, literally altered America’s course, and Dorsey was at the helm when it all happened.
5 – Trump-Backed Candidate Loses Big In Key Primary, Tarnishing Trump’s Endorsement Record
The Daily Caller reports: Businessman Jim Pillen won the Republican nomination for Nebraska’s gubernatorial race Tuesday, defeating a scandal-plagued Trump-endorsed candidate.
Several election forecasters projected that Pillen, who currently serves as a University of Nebraska Regent, had won the three-way primary against Republican state Sen. Brett Lindstrom and Trump-backed Charles Herbster. As of late Tuesday it appeared Herbster could finish a distant second in the race.
Herbster’s loss marks a shift in former President Donald Trump’s endorsement success rate after all 22 of his endorsements swept the Ohio and Indiana primaries on May 3. Trump had endorsed Herbster in October 2021 and reaffirmed his commitment to the candidate in May, despite accusations from eight women that Herbster groped and kissed them without their consent, according to a Nebraska Examiner report.
TRUMP-BACKED CANDIDATES 58-1 IN PRIMARIES (Breitbart)
Ohio: 22-0
Texas: 33-0
West Virginia: 2-0
Nebraska: 1-1https://t.co/32oOL9trVB— InteractivePolls (@IAPolls2022) May 11, 2022
DML: This wasn’t the best endorsement. But Trump is presently 58-1 on endorsed candidate wins. That’s not too shabby!

We are in trouble if an ignorant voter base keeps voting in these radical dems. Also they are getting in through mass corruption like ballot harvesting in places like Minnesota ( Omar) and big cities. I hope the republicans are preparing for mid term elections and putting an end to mail in ballots and allowing legitimate poll watchers in these corrupt dem led cities or this assault on our country will never stop and we will be living in a communist hellhole real soon.
You will be astounded at the number of morons that vote Democrat even with a smoking gun of truth. The sane minds you see here and in similar arenas are still a minority.
I’ve noticed, especially after the leak from SCOTUS, that I despise Democrat officials.
I started despiseing them in 2016. Never vote democrat again & that’s how I voted all my life. When Obama ran I quit voting until 2020 and I switched parties. Bunch of 🐷
They talk of democracy, but *everything* they are doing and calling for is the opposite of it. Democrats (especially those in media, Hollywood, and our own government) suck; they lie, they cheat, and they will do anything to destroy our country.
The Ohio Senate endorsement was a disgrace! He endorsed a Silicon Valley puppet who doesn’t even live here ! He won’t get my vote in November
I’m with you Douglas but Tim Ryan is terrible. His campaign ads are all lies
Schiff along with the rest of the democrats spreading disinformation need to be investigated and charged with helping voter fraud in an election. All kicked out of office and if they expand the court they will be. just like the last one. With the exception of 1 or 2 all democrats in congress are 🐷🐷💩🤡🤡🤡🤮
10.8% Inflation for food at home?
My grocery bill has doubled and I’m not buying any differently than before, except for LESS meat‼️
