1 – BREAKING: GOP votes to dump Cheney from leadership
The Hill reports: In an extraordinary bow to former President Trump, House Republicans voted Wednesday to purge GOP Conference Chair Liz Cheney from her leadership post, punishing the conservative Wyoming Republican for daring to refute Trump’s lie that the 2020 election was stolen.
The decision was made by voice vote, meaning there will be no tally of the lawmakers who voted to dump Cheney, or of those who wanted her to stay on. Sources inside the closed-door vote said it was an overwhelming vote against Cheney.
That represents a remarkable shift from a similar challenge to her leadership status in February, when she won handily. And it marked the first time in recent memory that a congressional GOP leader was toppled by rank-and-file Republicans in the middle of their term through a formal vote.
Cheney blasted Trump while speaking to reporters Wednesday morning after her ouster.

DML: Good-bye Cheney! Now she needs to be replaced in Congress!
2 – Dozens of influential Republicans threaten to form new party
The Hill reports: Dozens of Republicans are planning to call for reforms amid escalating divisions within their party and are threatening to form a separate group if GOP members do not break away from former President Trump.
The more than 100 former Republican officials are expected to release their demands in a letter on Thursday titled “A Call For American Renewal,” according to plans shared with Reuters and later reported by NBC News.
The letter states that Republicans must “either reimagine a party dedicated to our founding ideals or else hasten the creation of such an alternative,” according to NBC News.
One of the organizers of the effort is Miles Taylor, the former Trump administration official who last year revealed that he penned the initially anonymous 2018 New York Times op-ed titled “I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration.”
DML: They just don’t get it!
3 – Protests break out across US as violence escalates between Israel and Hamas
Fox News reports: Protesters supporting Israel and Palestine came out to demonstrate in New York, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C. and other U.S. cities on Tuesday as the violence escalated between the two sides overseas.
Groups on each side clashed in New York City in front of the Israeli consulate where police officers struggled to keep aggressive demonstrators from attacking each other. Physical fights broke out among some of the activists, videos on social media show.

A larger group of pro-Palestinian marchers walked through the streets of Manhattan holding up signs and condemning Israel’s actions. In Washington, D.C. a large group of pro-Palestinian marchers chanted “Palestine will be free!” and “Free, free Palestine!”
U.S. Reps. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., and André Carson, D-Ind., joined the protesters outside of the State Department.
Today, I was honored to join @RepRashida and a diverse crowd of people at the State Department to demand justice for Palestinians. Tlaib and Carson pumped up the crowd, telling them all the protests are “interconnected.” “As you all are marching for freedom of Palestine, please know that you must be marching for everybody’s freedom.”
“What they are doing to the Palestinians is what they are doing to our Black brothers and sisters here,” @RashidaTlaib told the crowd.

“If you are Black, this is your fight. If you are Latino, this is your fight. If you are South Asian, this is your fight. If you’re white, this is your fight. If you’re Jewish, this is sure enough your fight,” said @RepAndreCarson.

Border Patrol agents in Texas found an abandoned bag filled with “AK-47 style pistols,” including some that had been reported stolen, officials said Tuesday — just as authorities are trying to deal with a continuing crisis at the southern border:
This is the second time our agents encountered abandoned weapons and ammo in this area. It’s critical that our agents stay alert to all threats and work with our partners to stop criminal organizations from entering our communities. 6 -Superintendent Defends Reading Transgender Book to 1st-Graders: ‘Diverse Books Consistent with Our Values’
Breitbart reports: The superintendent of the Bellingham School District in the state of Washington responded to parents’ reactions to the report last week that a first-grade teacher read a transgender book to her young students, by defending his district’s practice of “reading diverse books and learning about all kinds of lives” as “consistent with our values in our strategic plan, The Bellingham Promise.”
In his response message, Superintendent Greg Baker did not appear to address parents’ concerns their alarm was ignored, but instead complained the national attention to the reading of I Am Jazz to first-graders, is “prompting hate speech and harassment based on our values as a district and our commitment to equitable, diverse and inclusive education.”
“We continue to diversify our library collections so that all families and children’s identities and experiences are reflected,” Baker wrote, adding:
“I Am Jazz” is part of our library book collection in our elementary schools and has been in our libraries for several years. The message of “I Am Jazz” is a child reflecting on their own gender identity and that all people are unique and wonderful. Gender identity and expression are found in the Washington State Health and Physical Education standards.
DML: This school needs a new superintendent.
