1 – Pfizer says Omicron-specific vaccine to be ready by March
FOX BUSINESS reports: Pfizer is aiming to have a COVID-19 vaccine that specifically targets omicron and other circulating variants by March.
“We already have begun work on a DNA template tailored to the sequence of Omicron, a critical step in the process of advancing a variant version of our vaccine if in fact we find one is needed,” a Pfizer spokesperson told FOX Business. “[We are] also manufacturing the variant vaccine at risk, as we did for Beta and Delta before.”
The announcement comes after the pharmaceutical giant previously said it would be able to develop and produce a tailor-made vaccine against the omicron variant in roughly 100 days, subject to regulatory approval, in the event that a third dose of its current BNT162b2 vaccine is not found to protect against the Omicron variant or other future variants.

2 – California 14-year-old killed by stray LAPD bullet laid to rest
NY POST reports: Valentina Orellana-Peralta, the California teenager killed in a department store dressing room by a stray police bullet, was laid to rest Monday — with her grieving parents still struggling to understand why she died.
“As parents, we ask ourselves, is it just for our daughter to die in this way?” the 14-year-old victim’s father, Juan Pablo Orellana, said during a funeral service at the United Church of Christ in Lost Angeles, NBC-TV reported.
“It’s an answer we will never have,” he said.
Valentina and her mother were inside a North Hollywood department store on Dec. 23 when police opened fire on a suspect — with one bullet piercing the wall of the dressing room where both were cowering and hit the girl.

3 – NFL’s doom day: Multiple head coaches and GMs sacked
WASHINGTON EXAMINER reports: The NFL saw multiple head coaches sacked from their teams Monday at the conclusion of the regular season.
The Miami Dolphins, Minnesota Vikings, and Chicago Bears each announced they were firing their head coach. The Vikings and the Bears also fired their general managers.
“I made a decision today to part ways with Brian Flores,” said Stephen Ross, owner of the Dolphins. “After evaluating where we are as an organization and what we need going forward to improve, I determined that key dynamics of our football organization weren’t functioning at a level I want it to be and felt that this decision was in the best interest of the Miami Dolphins.”
The Dolphins fired HC Brian Flores. I have covered this league long enough to know that coaches aren’t always fired for “coaching” reasons. That’s what seems to be at play here. From NFL Now @nflnetwork pic.twitter.com/SfOeOT3V4D

The Vikings fired both their head coach, Mike Zimmer, and their general manager, Rick Spielman. The team had an 8-9 record this season. Spielman became the general manager in 2012, and Zimmer became the head coach in 2014.
“We believe it is time for new leadership to elevate our team so we can consistently contend for championships,” Vikings owners Mark Wilf and Zygi Wilf said in a statement. “We are determined to have sustained success and bring Vikings fans the Super Bowl championships they expect and deserve.”
DML: These guys should run from the NFL like it’s a sinking ship.
