1 – GOP Reps fined for not wearing mask on House floor
The Hill  reports: GOP Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (Ga.) and Chip Roy (Texas) have been fined for not wearing masks on the House floor, the Ethics Committee disclosed Wednesday.

Roy has been fined $500, since it is his first documented offense. But Greene was previously fined $500 in May for declining to wear a mask on the House floor, meaning that her latest fine will be $2,500.

House members can file appeals with the Ethics panel to contest the fines, but neither Greene nor Roy did so, according to the committee.

“Filing an appeal to tyrannical overlords is a futile gesture, and — if successful — would leave one without standing to sue, should the mood arise,” Roy said in a statement.

DML: Doesn’t the Ethics panel have anything better to do?

2 – Psaki defends not allowing charter flights from Afghanistan to land at US bases
Fox News reports: White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Wednesday during a briefing that President Biden’s administration is “not going to allow” charter flights with unvetted passengers from Afghanistan to land on American military bases, due to safety concerns.

According to Psaki, the Biden administration continues to “press the Taliban” over the issue of evacuation flights, many of which contain Americans, not being allowed to leave Afghanistan.

“We don’t have a role in preventing flights from taking off,” Psaki told reporters. “We are not on the ground, so that is not something that the U.S. government is doing. At the same time, some of these planes and some of the issues [include] where are they going to land.”

DML: Biden doesn’t seem to have a role in much of anything.

3 – FLa. judge again rules against DeSantis, allows school districts to require masks
The Washington Post reports: A Florida judge ruled against Gov. Ron DeSantis’s administration for a second time over school mask mandates Wednesday, allowing school boards to require that students wear face coverings.

Leon County Judge John C. Cooper again sided with parents who said an executive order from DeSantis (R) overstepped the state’s authority in restricting school districts from requiring masks.

“We have a variant that’s more infectious and more dangerous to children than the one we had last year,” Cooper said when issuing his ruling. “We’re in a non-disputed pandemic situation with threats to young children who, at least based on the evidence, have no way to avoid this unless to stay home and isolate themselves. I think everybody agrees that’s not good for them.”

DML: Making kids wears masks isn’t the answer!

  1. This is BS! The Schools should not have the authority to mandate masks, period. This is against our constitution people. The evidence doesn’t show anything like this. There is no known proof that this variant is in anyway making the children ill, other than a flu strain. Get it together people. What are you really doing to our rights and our children and our country. Stop the nonsense!!!!
